Made some tasty noms over the holidays. My girl made this for us the other day. They had this crazy deal on at the supermarket that was two steaks and two lobster tails for $20. Baseball sirloin with a coffee, chili and paprika rub and garlic mushrooms. With a lobster tail butter poached in a beur blanc. Served with brussel sprouts sauteed with bacon and spicy mashed yams. I decided to go to town on Xmas eve and try some stuff I've never done before. Starter was a chilled gazpacho with english cukes, lemon, roasted garlic, dill, low fat yogurt, jalapenos, salt and white pepper. Topped with paprika toasted croutons. Main was a pan seared duck cooked medium. Topped with completely homemade sauce of beef stock, espagnole sauce, mushroom consomme, sherry, garlic, duck fat and deglazed wine. First side was roasted potatoes tossed in a lemon and dill beur blanc. Second side was a warm roasted beet salad with red wine and balsamic poached pears topped with olive oil and St. Agur blue cheese.

Nice work Shax.
Bacon and Brussel Sprouts is a match made in heaven. Mind you, anything with bacon is a match made in heaven.

Brussel sprouts are one of the most underrated foods on earth. Meanwhile, bacon is by far the most overrated food on earth. I really don't understand why that salty and greasy abomination is so highly regarded by EVERYONE.
EDIT: Before everyone beats my internet ass, that was mostly hyperbole written for drew.

It is ok to be wrong some times.
Brussels sprouts roasted in bacon grease is where it is at. Although roasted brussels sprouts in general is where it is at.

I totally agree that bacon is the most overrated food on earth. You can get almost any product you can think of with bacon on it, there are bacon conventions for gods sakes, it's out of hand. Bacon was okay - I guess - back when I used to eat meat but really??? The greatest food on earth???
You know what else is good and versatile - CHEESE.

J-dub, quit fucking changing thread titles. The masticate/masturbate thing wasn't funny in fifth grade and it isn't funny now.
