Pavement fucking sucked last year. I don't even want to go over this again, but I will if necessary. No need. HG: They were sloppy, sounded like crap, and put on a terrible show. Pavement fans: I loved it! There, we've gone over it again.

so DFA1979 nearly started a riot at SXSW last night, doubt it'll be that bad at Sasquatch but it's definitely going to be LOUD

It's funny how the pigs tried to shut it down to stop a riot from happening when all shutting it down would have done is pissed off every person there and probably make matters WAY worse.
It would have been Woodstock '99 all over again!

I'm going to voice my opinion and some people might not agree but sometimes you need to put an end to shit like this. Its one thing to gather in the alleyway to listen to the band, but when you start ripping down fences that are there for a reason, then you start endangering peoples lives and its not funny anymore. Think if all those people ripped down that fence and started mobbing towards the stage. That's when you start talking about a situation where you are over capacity and people are going to get trampled. So in this case, the police needed to be there to put an end to it. Thats my opinion. Maybe I'm getting old and soft, but common sense should tell you that the situation in the alley could have been a disaster. I would have to side with the police in this case. Plus the fucker that threw a beer into the face of the police horse was way out of line. Fucking drunk asshole.

I agree. I wasn't saying that the "authority" shouldn't do something about it, but shutting down a set when you already have a lot of absent minded people is only going to piss them off and make them be even more belligerent. Giving them the option to clear out or it gets shut down seemed liked the right thing to do, versus just shutting it down without warning.

I can see what you mean, but I don't think they were just going to clear out on their own. They looked like they were there for the long haul no matter what.

Any logical person wouldn't disagree with you, Switch. That shit was out of control and I'm pretty disgusted by the lack of respect for the venue security and police. Capacities exist for a reason. Even in semi-outdoor tents like that people in the middle and front can be crushed and in a state of confusion it's way too easy for people to get injured and even killed.

I don't think anyone's gonna disagree with you switch. I was at Woodstock '99, and my friend was trying to pull shit off the fires, hahahha. That night was equal parts scary and the best part about that weekend.

That's where Sasquatch reigns supreme in comparison to other festivals in that the atmosphere and just overall morale is uncanny and people just want to have fun and not give a fuck about anything else. Plus I would say the majority at Sasquatch are zoned out in the clouds instead of belligerently drunk. Extremely drunk concert goers are usually the most problematic.

Plus fewer people in general.

The amount of people was certainly a factor at Woodstock... also the fact that the "drinking water" was undrinkable and therefor $4 a bottle... the cheapest food was a $5 hotdog and campstoves weren't allowed... I could go on...

Why was DFA put into such a small area in the first place?

I liked this quote:
"An semi-outdoor venue with a 200 person capacity during SXSW. What could possibly go wrong?"

Why was DFA put into such a small area in the first place? ^ This. Subheadliner for Sasquatch and playing a tiny ass tent for SXSW? Also, I totally though "Police Shut Down" was a new song or something at first

It's not like SXSW purposefully said you can only play in this tiny venue, I think DFA choose to do it cause it'd be awesome. Sounds like they were right
