After listening to Biffy a little bit, Many of Horror is the only song I somewhat liked.
My optimism for Friday is definitely failing. :/

I don't really care for any of the bands on Friday but I will not write it off as a failure. I think we can all make Friday as fun or as shitty as we want to. We can choose to sulk if we don't like the bands or we can have a board member meet-up, pound some fucking beers, and tromp into that gorge and have the fucking time of our lives!! Who's with me!!

Yeah total dogshit. And I appreciate the suggestion, but I don't think know would tolerate me having a title like "The Prophet" Yeah, the boarder least deserving of the title "Prophet" would easily be Mr. Fleet Foxes. Especially since we all knew HG wasn't going to like DFA1979. He mentioned the band about a month ago, saying something like, "I suppose I should check DFA to see what the fuss is all about." I've been waiting for his rant about how bad they are. For the record, I don't get what the fuss is about DFA1979 either. It's pretty good, but some people make it sound like Led Zeppelin got back together.

DFA1979 sounds like fucking Offspring. Don't get it guys. At all. What? I don't see how they can be compared to the Offspring at all.

Yeah, I can understand why you wouldn't like it, but I don't see how you can compare them to offspring.

Because they sound like Offspring. I don't hear it at all. I hear more relation to QOTSA than Offspring. That is just guitaring... Vocally I can't really compare them to anybody?

I think that at this point, the question posed in the thread's title can be summarily answered YES. Know, when was the last time you said you saw them live? They've definitely come a long way since the nineties in terms of stage presence and how the songs generally sound live. Anyways, to sum up my answer to the thread title... Here is looking at the numbers side of things: Foo Fighters - $40-50 (key arena price) DFA79 - $20 (showbox venue price) Thr other 4 bands: probably around $10-20 ea. Also, If I'm not mistaken, camping was $30 a night during previous years? That's a $180 value shoved into an $80 ticket. More of a value for you 4-day peeps. So my answer is NO. Friday is not a failure. You all are just getting more of a "steal" on the other 3 days. ;D

Last I saw the Foo Fighters was October, 2005. I don't think they have played in Portland since. The only other time I saw them was in the mid 90s, supporting their first album, back when I was a teenager.

Hancho it's not a 'steal' if I don't give a shit about how good or bad the Foos make their terrible songs sound.

My basic question at the beginning of this thread was ultimately, do you think that Sasquatch will continue to have bands play on Friday? Its really looking like a yes, isn't it? And that could be a great thing for the future, couldn't it?

Adding Biffy Clyro not only makes Friday now worth going, but makes the entire festival that much better. Every year there's a band the masses haven't heard yet end up being completely blown away by. This year that band will be Biffy. Excellent live act. Easily one of the best bands around today. Mon the Biff!
