Dude Switchy I loves ya but I'm sorry. WRONG KID DIED Thats cool, you're entitled to your opinion and the planning of your Sasquatch activities but let me just put this into perspective: I did some research and calculations and let me just sum up the career of the guy you wish to mock. Let me remind you this is probably a conservative estimate. Conor Oberst has 25 albums and 15 Eps with 8 different bands starting since he was 13 years old, this guy is no slouch. He is also a founding member of Saddle Creek and Team Love records. He has done all of this and is only 30 years old. So you can mock him, but just keep in mind you are mocking a musical genius and probably one of the most productive artists in modern days. That is all. No hard feelings, I just wanted to put it into perspective.

Anyway I really will be at Iron and Wine no matter what, so I'll only chant it before and after.

Massive output does not in any way equal greatness. Conor Oberst is not a genius, and I'm going to mock the shit out of him. I've seen Bright Eyes before; with the exception of S. Malkmus he is the most ridiculous, unprofessional performer I've ever seen. He got fall-down drunk thirty minutes into the set, and the audience ATE THAT SHIT UP because the majority of his fans wanna blow the guy. My opinion of his music aside (indulgent, whiny, boring), he's a clown and simply not to be taken seriously.
If it makes you feel any better, my favorite band is the Residents; I've seen them four times and every single one of those times there have been unappreciative assholes in the audience heckling the stage. I reckon if we lived in a parallel dimension and The Residents played a mid-afternoon set at Sasquatch, you'd be so put off by what they would be doing that you'd be screaming at the stage too. If not you, at least a thousand other people would.
Plus it's gonna be fuckin funny as hell. WRONG KID DIED

"Don't ever fucking knock Conor Oberst you fucking virgin piece of shit."

I'm still not going, unless the Bonnaroo lineup is announced, it's not that good, tickets still aren't sold out, and I'm convinced Lolla isn't a viable option this year.

The way I look at it, there are 20 or so acts that I would have no problem paying $15-$30 to see at a smaller venue. There are another half dozen acts that I have paid over $30 to see in the past, but would be on the fence about going to see again. Not out of dislike but more because my taste in music has changed. Case in point, I wouldn't even consider paying arena prices to see the Foo Fighters, but assuming there isn't a surprise conflict, I will enjoy their set on Friday night.
I think one of the major reasons for my initial disappointment is that Sasquatch has really been bringing the goods the last few years to try to be seen in the same light as the heavyweight festivals in North America. The last few years, I've been able to gain some sort smug mental satisfaction knowing that a lot of people were seeing our humble Sasquatch as the best music festival of the summer. The Pixies or Arcade Fire were never going to make or break my ability to enjoy the weekend, but would have added a buzz that DCFC or MM can't create.

No matter the schedule.. If you are a citizen of the great northwest, you must go to Sasquatch.. If Jack Johnson, KOL & Andy Dick were headlining.. I would still fuckin' go..

My initial reaction, like many of you, was disappointment, mostly directed at the top couple lines of the lineup. I share HG's distaste for Bright Eyes and I've seen DCFC and MM enough that neither can really excite me any more. I got my hopes up for at least one of Pixies, AC, Sufjan, QOTSA etc., and on first scan of the lineup it was the absence of any of these acts that struck me the most. It doesn't help that Iron and Wine and the Decemberists do nothing to excite me in the least.
Upon further inspection though, this year is just stacked with mid tier acts that I either have never seen or would love to see again, and Wilco and FL doing Soft Bulletin are HUGE for me. As are Wolf Parade, The Antlers, GBV, !!!, Robyn, Sleigh Bells, Surfer Blood, The Radio Dept, Sharon Van Etten, Yeasayer, DFA1979... the list goes on. Add to that bands like FF (who I would never pay to see in an arena setting but will be a lot of fun I'm sure) and the assortment of killer early day acts and I'm expecting this to be my best Sasquatch yet. And while I'm not particularly a fan of either Ratatat or Bassnectar, I think late night sets from both have the potential to be A LOT of fun. Basically all I really want at this point is a couple more small/medium-ish acts to fill out Friday and I'll be incredibly happy.

I'd club a baby seal if they'd just add TVOTR to Friday.

The time I saw Bright Eyes, like almost nine years ago when they had any kind of relevance, I drank a pint of Jack Daniel's on my 10 minute bike ride leading up to the show, and I was not more drunk than Conor Oberst. It was a joke, and so is he. The whole reason I even did that was because I figured if he is going to show up shitfaced, then I might as well get just as sloppy.
Who cares if he founded a record label and put out some CDs, that does not make him good.

I'd club a baby seal if they'd just add TVOTR to Friday. I think it is definitely possible. If it happens I hope they move Against Me to the main stage to open for FF, with TVOTR headlining the second stage.

After you're done, remind me to tell you why the chicken crossed the road. Why did the tomato cross the road? Because it was stapled to the chicken.

I'd club a baby seal if they'd just add TVOTR to Friday. I would find something else equally cute to club. They were fucking amazing when we saw them there before.
