So I says, 'Supercollider? I just met 'er!'
...and then they built the supercollider.

So I says, 'Supercollider? I just met 'er!' ...and then they built the supercollider. That is basically my favorite joke of all time. I laugh every single time.

HG, let me sum up what Switch is trying to say: "Don't ever fucking knock Conor Oberst you fucking virgin piece of shit." Come on Know. Why do you have to bring up my past? I've come a long way since then and try my hardest to be a civil and contructive member of the board. I am showing a lot of restraint while people are talking shit about my favorite musician of all time. Its not easy.

I'd club a baby seal if they'd just add TVOTR to Friday. Is this based on something I missed? This would be the most perfect thing to happen. Also don't club the poor seals. Man you guys would all just LOVE my mod s. "I'd give Weak Shit Superfan a giant hug in the "Do not ask about hugging" Thread if they'd just add TVOTR to Friday"

It's a quote from that old Weird Al movie 'UHF'.

A comment on the most recent Sasquatch post on Facebook:
"ATTENTION SQUATCHERS:
Bright Eyes will be performing this year; I hear they only ever play their greatest, most amazing song if the audience -- the WHOLE audience -- asks for it by name.
So when Conor comes onstage, we all have to yell as loud as we possibly fucking can:
WRONG KID DIED!"
Now, who is D Howland Abbott? Is that you, I8?

Weird Al's our TVOTR source? Also, UHF meant the world to me when I was a kid.

"I'm gonna be up front for them, and I don't care what the fuck happens, I'm gonna catch one of Sebastien's drumsticks. I WILL."
Good luck to you sir. I caught a Vinnie Paul drumstick in a vicious Pantera mosh pit during the Extreme Steel Tour. I fought and bled for that stick.
I don't want to regurgitate everything that's already been said, but I wanna throw my 2 cents in. First off on the headliners, well we know how I feel, BUT I've come around and I'm amping up for what IS there, not lamenting over whats NOT there. Still can't get past MM, DCFC, and Wilco, however it is what it is. I'm hoping that MM will kill it with their older, more quality music but I will not count on it.
"My friends either like it or not, within the first 30 seconds of the first track, they do not believe in growers."
That's absurd. I've always felt like the best tracks on any particular CD don't hit until track 3 or 4. Too bad for them man, but I know plenty of folks who are the same way.
I've had alot of people tell me they can't believe I'll be going all that way and spending all that money, etc for THAT lineup. These are people who have never experienced the wonder of the Gorge and/or Sasquatch. Whats REALLY funny is that all the first timers that I've convinced to grab a ticket and come with this year were totally stoked about the lineup.
I know I don't travel the farthest to get there, but I do travel 18+ hours to get there and I have a ton of responsibilties back home with a wife, 3 kids, mortgage, my own business, and other community involvement. It all goes on hold for Sasquatch every time I go. Its what keeps me sane. I can be utterly FREE for 5 days. Nobody to answer to, no asses to wipe but my own. Its the only time of the year I get to experience that feeling for more than an hour at a time. Fuck I can't even take a shit in my own house without being disrupted.
Some people go to Vegas or Disneyland or Hawaii....I go to the Gorge and I cherish every last fucking second that I'm there.

I'm allowed to pick on you because you never commented on Gramma's birthday post in the birthday thread. You of all people. The time I saw Bright Eyes, like almost nine years ago when they had any kind of relevance, I drank a pint of Jack Daniel's on my 10 minute bike ride leading up to the show, and I was not more drunk than Conor Oberst. It was a joke, and so is he. The whole reason I even did that was because I figured if he is going to show up shitfaced, then I might as well get just as sloppy. Who cares if he founded a record label and put out some CDs, that does not make him good. (wrong kid died) Was this pre-Gramma? If so, that's really funny you each had basically the same experience seeing Bright Eyes live.

This year's lineup isn't as good as last year's...Period. I don't think it's a matter of musical taste, either. I think that saying 2010 > 2011 is as close to an actual fact as we can envision. The caliber of acts on the lineup this year aren't nearly as strong this year as they were in 2010. Case closed.
But you know what? I'm totally okay with that. I'm still super excited about going this year. There are still tons of great bands on the bill. To go along with the 8 or so bands I've seen before, I'll be seeing over 20 bands I've never seen play live - at the GORGE no less! And add to the fact that I'll be able to share that experience with each of you. How can I possibly complain about that?
The lineup may not be nearly as good now as it was in 2010, but I would argue that I'm more excited about going this year than I was last year.
