At the end of the weekend last year we were one of the last people out and there was free beer as far as the eye could see. We had tons of people offer us free beer. Mainly Canadians that couldn't take it back. All of the Canadians said that beer is way cheap here, so I guess it must be pretty spendy in Canada.

The look on people's faces when I turn down free beer... Priceless.

Everyone should know how to open a bottle with a BIC lighter. It's not hard. I agree.

If you could have seen the look on my face walking through the liquor dept at Walmart at 7:30am Friday morning last year, you would have been witness to pure, unadulterated happiness.

Is it just really high taxes on booze?

and cigarettes, and gasoline, and whatever else. That's why it just doesn't compute that my fellow countrymen and women would actually take Canadian cigarettes to Sasquatch.

You started the day with a 4 Loko? You and I must party together. I don't fuck around. But in reality I don't party too much, especially compared to some people I know. Sasquatch is an exception though, something about the whole environment makes being under the influence of multiple substances even that much better. Last year I had a friend puke before 11am because he was so drunk on saturday morning. I can't wait to be laughing at him again this year.

I'm going to have to find a canadian to bum a cig from so I can experience the supposed awfulness myself. Belmont Milds. They're worth the extra couple bucks a pack; especially if you are strictly a vacation and drunk smoker, like myself. I'll have some if you catch me on Friday or Saturday, but I'll be out likely by Sunday, and will have converted to cigar-smelling Marlboro's.

Yuck, no Marlboro's, thank you. American Spirit is the way to go.

The nastiest Canadian cigarette in the world isn't as foul as a Marlboro.

They are more expensive. But they taste like a million times better and also last at least three times as long.

#1 - Alcohol, tobacco, gas, all that, is more expensive in Canada due to taxes. Some provinces have it better than BC (eg. Alberta,) and I'm all for taxes, but $10 for a six pack of Coors? Same price for the Canadian equivalent "Canadian" (or "Molson" as it's known in the States.) There are cheaper options, but they are by and large worse than the aforementioned if you can believe it. Craft beers are generally in the $11-12 range, so it almost makes no sense to go with anything else. This is a big reason I started home brewing. A six pack costs me more like $3 when I make it myself.
#2 - If you can't open a bottle of beer with something on your person or nearby then you suck. Just about anything can be used as a bottle opener. Lighters are one of the easiest and most available options. Give it a try sometime, and ask the internetz if you need help.
#3 - I don't smoke, but I'm guessing that Canadians bring their nasty cigarettes into the States because they have "their brand" that they've gotten used to and don't fancy switching for the weekend. Also, Canadians have the luxury of stopping at duty free on their way to the Gorge so they can pick up a cartoon for the same price a few packs would normally cost. Also, I hear brands make different cigarettes to be sold in the two different country. For example, a pack of Marlboro Reds bought in Canada is different than one bought State side.
#4 - The tortilla frisbees were pretty funny. They seemed to just keep coming and coming! And I remember I-8's rant well. This is why I'll be throwing my tortillas down my throat instead.

I think this little kid we saw was in on the beginning. This was '09. Do you recall mass tortilla throwing in '09?
Holy shit, I cannot believe it would cost $10 for a six pack of shitty beer. Even at the store up the street who charges too much, the regular price of a six pack of Lagunitas IPA is $8.49.

Yeah, the one I'm thinking about was at least two years ago. It was at the main stage (I don't even remember who was playing, or about to play I should say as the set hadn't started yet I think) and they were all over the sky.
As for beer, the cheapest it gets is about $8 a six pack, but that stuff is not very nice. And consider this: the prices I quoted are at the government run BC Liquor stores, which close early and aren't open everyday. If you want to pick up some beer at an odd time or at a nearby store you have to visit a "cold beer and wine" shop where you can expect to tack on another couple bucks to those prices. Bleh!
