I want some shit that will make me dance my ass off at a late stage. That's why I was REALLY hoping for a Ghostland Observatory set. Chromeo would kill it up there too I think. Ratatat just seems to laid back for that slot. I hope I'm wrong, because I will be checking out their set regardless and would love to be surprised!

They were before the days of late night sets, but Ghostland in '08 and Chromeo in '09 were exactly this. I too am skeptical about Ratatat, but I'll definitely check them out and hope for the best. Worst case scenario I just go back to the campsite to get my dance party on.

And, I'm sorry Ratatatatatat, you're cool and all, but the idea of them spending an entire late night set on you is fucking lame. No way! I am sexually excited for Ratatat late night! I think they are eminently danceable.

I'm really excited for Ratatat. It's nice to have a late set from an act that really appeals to me.
And they are in no way short on jams.

Cool. I was planning to anyway, but I'll give them more listens before the festival rolls around. So far their albums haven't struck me in a "OMG MY FACE IS MELTING!" sort of way, but I'll give them more time.

I wouldn't say they are very face melty, but they kick out some fucking sweet jams and are really fun to dance to.

I bet MSTRKRFT get's the late set. I have been enjoying Ratatat though. If in doubt go check out some Youtube footage. They look like they play a pretty sweet show.

How does that not look like a good show?

Well, it definitely looks like a great time is happening there. I think I need to stop listening to them on my iPod while on the bus and give them a chance on my stereo at home. Nice and loud. Any recommendations on which albums to give more attention to?

The self-titled album and Classics are the more 'fun' ones. 3 is more experimental, and 4 is a lot like 3, but... crunchier.
I'm listening to Classics right now. Probably the best one, even if I personally prefer 4. Can't go wrong with Classics; Lex and Wildcat alone would make for a raaaad dance party on the lawn.

I always find I get the best sound from headphones. I usually hear things I wouldn't hear otherwise. Unless you have a really kick ass stereo at home.

I'm a headphone guy too, but Ratatat sounds really great when its got some space to fill.

Well that makes sense. All I've heard is LP3. I'm actually excited to check out their other jams now.

I don't have any quality headphones, but I do have a pretty good stereo at home. Upon HG's suggestion I just put on Classics. Here goes nothing!

My friend recommended Classics to me the other day. Is that just the name of an albun of theirs or is it some kind of a comp?

It is just the name of the album.

Wildcat! I forgot these guys did that song. This album is definitely more "fun" than I remembered them being. I still don't put them up there with the master face melters, but I'm digging this album. In a word, I'd call them "groovy."
