Third Eye was the first track I ever saw them perform and it brought me to tears. Hearing it again last summer was just as good.

Rush will probably have a great light show when they play the Gorge July 2nd.
As for the reasons for why one should strongly consider attending the festival, I'm getting what you're all saying: it's about more than the music - it's about meeting other stellar people who have the same passion and want to throw their inhibitions out the window for a few days. At the same time, you get to see several great bands you like AND, I imagine, discover more bands as a bonus. I'm sold, thanks!

A seated Rush show would be so lame. I'm really considering getting a ticket for the Gorge show.

Seated gorge shows are lame. I recommend bumrushing for some good seats when the ticket takers get bottle necked at the pit, then steadfastly believing that they belong to you.

"Just out of curiousity, what was so different about their show in '06 aside from it being at the Gorge? I saw them in '09 for the first time headlining an outdoor festival in SoCal and again last year at the Key Arena. Both were badass... But apart from one being inside, the experience wasn't really different"
Well, Danny Carey uses black magic and incantations on his drumset. Sorcerers have more power near water so for obvious reasons his powers were amplified for the Gorge performance. The energy in the air at that show was palpable.
The other big deal was that they played Opiate and Sober. They hadn't often included those songs in their setlists since 2001-2002. I'm 98% certain that was the only show they played those songs throughout the entirety of the 10,000 days tour. So that was a very special treat. Opiate was also extended to almost double its CD length. Many of the shows during their tour had 2-3 less songs that we got at the Gorge. Additionally they didn't close maaaany of their shows with Aenima as an encore.
"Let's just all agree that Tool is fucking amazing."
I've never agreed more with any statement I've read on this board.

Judge me accordingly but after the birth of my children that show may have been the greatest day of my life.

Can I just say 'What the Fuck?' to the Trailer Park Boys? haha my friend (mind you she is a mormon and doesn't like to watch rated "R" movies) loves, absolutely loves this show. It makes me laugh that she won't listen to Starfucker, because of their name, or watch the rated "r" movies, but she'll watch this show for hours and listen to bands that swear more times in an album than little miss sunshine. I just don't understand, I also do not understand the trailer park boys and her obsession with them (more like bubbles, and yes I know the characters name because she is that obsessed). I moved all my stuff into a house in Provo before the start of a semester one year; locked all the doors and went home to see my parents for a week in California. When I came back, I discovered that someone had broken into the house and stolen my entire DVD collection - except the ones that were rated 'R'. Oh yeah, and they stole my signed photograph of Jim Henson. There were a lot of factors, but ultimately it was stupid little bullshit like this that made me decide I was done being a Mormon.

The other big deal was that they played Opiate and Sober. You can count on one hand the amount of times they've played either of those songs live in this decade. Where are you getting this information? Sober is their 3rd most played song and Opiate is their 7th most played song. They have played these songs 4 out of the 5 times that I have seen them. www.setlist.fm/stats/tool-2bd6d836.htmlYou can count the number of times they DON'T play those songs on one hand

Yeah, I know Switch I was actually just looking at that now. I totally stand corrected, however, those tracks were indeed a rare treat throughout the 10,000 days tour. I can be a hyperbole machine sometimes. That is a kickass website by the way, thanks for sharing it. I'll be geekin out on it all day now.

I love how Merlin beats Mim by giving her chlamydia.

I am still convinced that The Felice Brothers are going to be added to the lineup. They skip Seattle in their upcoming tour. I think its going to happen.
