Definitely not the lineup I was hoping for, but SOFT BULLETIN at the GORGE is something I would consider driving down to see on its own. So fuck yeah to that and Black Mountain, Wilco, Modest Mouse, The Decemberists, Deerhunter, uh okay so it gets more than a little thin after that. Still, whatever, it's going to be fun and call me sentimental but I'm also looking forward to getting to possibly hang with a couple of you all from the board.

since people are still only using this thread, i'll give my two cents on some standouts from cmj over the past couple years.
-s. carey is amazing live, hopefully it translates to an outdoor venue. his debut lp 'all we grow' from 2010 is great. he drummed for bon iver on that year plus tour. -dan mangan opened for j vanderslice and john darnielle's side project 'the extra lens' and was hilarious. the folksy alt rock isn't always what i go for, but it sounded stellar. -smith westerns is some great new indie rock. their new lp with fat possum will continue to get positive reviews all year. -wye oak is awesome. cymbals eat guitars dynamics + neutral milk hotel folk. really great songwriting. -villagers is real gentle, but sounded great live. -the antlers, obviously, were outstanding. -surfer blood was really impressive, fresh, and clean live. to be honest, they sounded like vampire weekend but a little more dense. i thought their album last year was mixed terribly and i've avoided them since like the plague. i'm interested to hear them again after a year of touring.
and just others in the bottom half you should already love: black mountain, radio dept, and gayngs. oh god.

I saw Modest Mouse in a bar on the 'Moon and Antarctica' tour. They are going to be disappointing every time I see them for the rest of my life because of that fact. Fair enough.

My name isn't Patrick for no reason. I will be skipping to my fucking loo during Flogging Molly. Also, between myself and a handful of other people we will be bringing over 10,000 glowsticks to the Bassnectar set. Be ready for an epic glowstick war.

It never makes sense to buy something before you know what you are buying.

So there is no Arcade Fire, no Pixies, no Kanye West, no Strokes? So What? I'm not sure where some of the whining about this year's lineup is coming from.
I'll be having a great time and getting my money's worth seeing and hearing Deerhunter (can't wait!), Wilco, Flaming Lips, Beach House, Sharon Jones, Rodrigo y Gabriela, Foo Fighters, Black Mountain, Guided By Voices, Local Natives, Old 97’s, Yeasayer, Bright Eyes, Iron and Wine, Flying Lotus, Death From Above 1979, Bonobo and Thermals among others.
And there are always plenty artists new to me that are pleasant surprises every year. There is lots to like this year, and it's all happening in the best venue on the planet!
Whiners? Not welcome! LOL

Someone should start a "bitching about the lineup" thread that I can ignore forever. Reasonable disappointment is acceptable, but only if you can come around and realize that there are a lot of great names on this lineup, and that you'll have a fucking blast no matter what.
You guys, GBV, DFA79 and Archers of Loaf are three of the most exciting reunions of the year, easily.

And I think naked and famous/lykke li/neon indian and some others will find their way onto the lineup list... Considering their touring schedule.

Portion for Foxes is a great song. But I'd rather just see Rilo Kiley. I'm sure we'll see something like this, but...whatever.

HG, I know you're really pissed off about the lineup, so I'm trying to show some compassion by not gloating here. And I know you want to leap on me for using the word "gloating" when you clearly don't think Modest Mouse is worthy, but look at it from my perspective: My favorite band is headlining a day at Sasquatch. How much you think they suck doesn't matter; I'm pretty elated about that. That said, however -- turns out most of my friends feel the way you all do, so I may have a hard time assembling a group to go this year. May wind up being just me and my sister. Eh, I'll get over it. It's going to be a great fuckin' Squatch as usual; at the moment I'm feeling pretty foolish for once again getting so swept up in the rumors and speculation. Aside from this being one of the friedliest sounding posts you've ever made, I see your point and I'm actually pretty excited for you. Seeing that the Lips will be doing Soft Bulletin is probaby the most excited I've ever been during the lineup announcement. I'm not a fan, but I love watching Death Cab perform. I've never seen Wilco; I'm pretty thrilled about that. And goddammit, I love Modest Mouse's music a LOT, at least up to a point, and even if their set is only 50% songs that I care about that 50% will be made up of some of the greatest songs of the last twenty years. Most of all I fucking hate people who sit around bitch bitch bitching about the lineup, so I'm gonna cut that out. This is our party and it's as awesome as we make it; cool for Isaac that he's invited this year, I'm going to smoke mad joints and watch the hell out of Modest Mouse. A few pages late but nice post, you smug fuck. Nice to see that you do have a heart.

At least one of those will be added, I'm certain. Another artist I initially looked past was The FUCKING ANTLERS. I can't wait to finally here that dude's voice live.

Anyone think that since jenny lewis and conor oberst are in one place they may do some mashups? That would be awesome. I'm glad somebody else is excited about Conor being at Sasquatch!
