And heres hoping they don't fuck up the sound on Beach House again. It was a damn travesty in 09.

huh, maybe this is suggesting the top 4 are the headliners, and not the Lips. Also, Bright Eyes as a fart was hilarious.

Why is DCFC billed so highly? They went to sasquatch in 2008 when their latest album just came out and still only had a sub-headliner slot..and it was a pretty damn boring show. I hope they dont headline this year.

by the way us seattle folk and surrounding area always have the capitol hill block party and bumbershoot line ups to fill whatever void we think was left vacant bandwise.

I was somewhat disappointed, but I blame myself for letting all the "Kanye, Daft Punk, Arcade Fire, etc." talk go to my head. Needless to say, I look forward to seeing a lot of the announced artists for the first time.

I hope they dont headline this year. Yeah, and so was Modest Mouse. Behind The Cure and REM, respectively. I'd expect just about every headliner from last year to play second fiddle to those bands too. Plus DCFC has had 3 more years and another album (sometime this year) to get even bigger.

i'm pretty sure DCFC and MM will play the same night (saturday) based on the billing. Last year the headliners were listed in order thus pavement was listed 3rd because they co headlined the second night....it would make sense for them to play together also

Well that sucked. I missed all of the action cuz my drunk brother walked in with a HUGE gash on his hand, and he didn't know where his phone and wallet were. We spend half an hour looking for the phone, and then a few hours at the emergency room. I'm happy with the lineup though! I have a lot of listening to do, but I'm glad I have my ticket!

Hmmm.
Excerpt from "Lumpy's various thoughts over the course of reading 48 pages about this lineup at 6:30AM EST after driving 10 hours total to and from Raleigh for the amazing Deerhoof show that he still has somewhat of a natural high from":
...learned my lesson from getting my hopes up about Pixies rumors.
...pretty good lineup. most of the people on there that I'd want to see I've already seen.
...not much surprises.
...wonder if Modest Mouse will do a lotta oldies for the 10th "anny". Long Drive in its entirety?
...oh hai Reggie Watts (awesome), but not a single other comedian I've ever heard of (I don't know whether some of these names are bands or comedy)
...oh look! DFA1979 added! Geno's gonna go have to throw his pants in the wash on "heavy soil".
...Guided By Voices is not headlining (and other weird order thoughts)? Adam Zacks, you so confused.
...OH HAI ARCHERS OF LOAF! ISN'T THIS THE FIRST "ANNOUNCED" SHOW OF THEIR REUNION! DOES NO ONE ELSE ON THIS BOARD CARE?!?!?! GUESS IT'S A CAROLINA THANG!
...WHERE THE FUCK IS NAPOLEAN SKYWALKER?!?!?!
...at least I don't have to worry too much about the 99% chance that I won't be able to attend.
Love you guys. Have fun urrybody.

my feelings on the lineup are pretty mixed. on one hand, I really like a lot of the featured bands: Decemberists, Death Cab, Major Lazer, Bass Nectar, Ratatat, Iron & Wine, Flogging Molly, Against Me! (btw, I'm guessing that they're both on Friday behind Foo Fighters), !!!, and Das Racist. I haven't seen most of them either. I'm also excited to see some acts who I'm not really a huge fan of but can imagine would be good live (Wilco, Chromeo, MSTRKRFT, Rodrigo Y Gabriela, hell I'd even get really stoned and try out Best Coast). I also just started to listen to DFA and they're pretty neat, good band to get.
However, I'm disappointed by how underwhelming the headliners are. They're all solid bands (even though I don't particularly care for Modest Mouse or the Flaming Lips), but I really would have liked to see something a little more fresh and not a bunch of bands who have been labels as Sasquatch regulars. No Black Keys bums me out a lot. I know some people mentioned they had already played the PNW quite a bit in months past, but every show sold out and I'm sure quite a few people missed out.
However, the majority of the undercard is pretty meh. Like, I get Sharon Jones, she's getting big now. But fucking Pink Martini? Why did they feel the need to book a band who play lounge music primary appealing is to baby boomers? And I get Robyn is finally getting a lot of recognition, but she shouldn't be that high up.
Bright Eyes has never done anything for me.

I know I'm not saying anything new here, but I suppose I'll need time to let my definite opinion settle in.
You'd think that because its the 10th ann, I'd have a "holy shit, that's awesome" reaction to the headliners or undercards. I am not overwhelmed by any announcement, though there are bands I am excited to see/see again. There's no surprises this year and to me, that's a tad disappointing.
I think what I'm mostly excited about, however, is getting to learn about the new bands. I got to know a lot of the new bands before I went to Sasquatch last year and they've turned into some of my favorite bands--such as Phantogram.
Oh well. I already have tix and mostly have my travel plans. I'm going and regardless of the mildly lackluster line-up, I'm still pumped to be going!
