i will say this, last year's subs would easily have been more 'headliner worthy' than this year's group. but i'm still okay with that. Is there any ONE band that i'm absolutely geeked-out over? - not really... but there are still a TON of solid bands i'm looking forward to seeing. Sorry, I don't agree. some of those "subs" would have trouble headlining bumbershoot, which both MM and DCFC have done in the past. Flaming Lips have headlined the festival in the past - I wouldn't be surprised if those were the four they went with (obviously adding Foo fighters). And I'm sorry you guys haven't seen MM actually cut loose - I've seen them a half dozen times, and I totally get why people would think they were a "studio band" based on some of those performances. But when they're on, holy crap are they awesome. DCFC are totally a studio band, no matter how long they stretch out We Looked Like Giants

oh GOD, if they have Noah & THe Whale, Bright Eyes and Death Cab all play the same day on the same stage, i think there's gonna be some suicides.

Bright Eyes is the best fucking thing on the lineup I think Bright Eyes would be fitting for the Modest Mouse night and Flaming Lips for Death Cab... or Visa Versa.

I can't imagine Flaming Lips playing Soft Bulletin and more could be anything but a headlining set. I'd bet two of DCFC/Modest Mouse/Wilco are doubling up for a night.

i am a little surprised that Foals and Naked & Famous aren't on the lineup. I really thought they'd both be a lock! There's still time for lower tier acts like this to be a late addition. I would love to see The Naked and Famous.

that first day might just be a few bands Like one of the early years when they first tried three days. Only afternoon/evening shows. I could see Wilco doubling up with MM or Flaming Lips. I could sort of see MM going on right before DCFC too, but I dunno. Of course, DCFC is opening for the Foos in England, so that's on the table too I suppose.

This list is definitely missing the "new discovery" factor that previous years had, though. That said I've never even heard of Pink Martini, Old 97's, and Archers of loaf (among the obvious lower tier bands). Pink Martini have been around for quite some time they are more of a cuban/brazillian type band. I would probably go see them if there weren't conflicts. old 97's have been around for awhile crazy enough I've seen a lot of these bands which is rare for me. my draw are the flaming lips (i've yet to see them) dfa1979, noah and the whale (they've never come here), the radio dept, stornoway, wolf parade, local natives, beach house, yeasayer, and the antlers

Old 97s opened for...fuck, was it Sheryl Crowe? Two years ago at Bumershoot, so even back then they were getting some serious consideration

And thanks to the guys you were with who got you tickets to tonight's event. I think everyone on this board now owes you a beer. If you plan it right, you'll be drinking for free the entire festival!

Hey guys. The crowd reaction were pretty positive actually although I kinda noticed people cheering more at the subheadliners than the headliners. Shouting during the ustream with Peatrick was quite fun though Also fuck The End for posting the lineup 5 minutes before the lineup video played...We were both going wtf. And guess we will see if there are any other additions tomorrow morning eh? Good night guys!
