Bumbershoot tickets are going on sale next week.
Looks like I'll have to miss the last day of the festival. Like Sasquatch. I have to give myself travel time for work.

Thanks for the heads up mtsquatch, it's been far too long since I've been to Bumbershoot and I've been meaning to go again. Maybe some cheap advance tickets are just what I need!

Name 1 festival (whether its national or overseas) that you've never been to, but you would like to go to... (you can name more than 1 festival if you REALLY want to)

Either Ultra or Shambhala NEED to happen for me soon.

Shambhala is definitely on my list, and also quite a bit more likely than many others due to its proximity.

Yep agreed. I see that likely being the next festival I attend for the same reason. I would love to hit up Ultra but I just see myself traveling to Miami for that.

I'd like to go to an ATP sometime, depending on who's curating.

Osheaga in Montreal is a wicked festival. Really well organized, and Montreal is an awesome city.
Last year was Arcade Fire, Black Keys, DEVO (soooo good), Weezer, Gaslight Anthem, Pavement, The National, Metric, Sonic Youth, Snoop Dogg, Edward Sharpe, Stars, The Antlers, Japandroid, Robyn, The Morning Benders, Jon Spencer Blues Explosion, and a tonne of other bands.

I really just wouldn't bother. I've gone a few times and will probably go again just cause it's convenient but it's really not worth going out of your way to go. I'd honestly suggest capitol hill block party over bumbershoot (i wouldn't go out of my way to go to that either though...)

Capitol Hill Block Party is an overcrowded clusterfuck, and unless you're no more than 20 feet from the main stage or over 6'5 it's damn near impossible to see the band up there because of the slope of the street. I'll still probably go back though lol

I'm not really defending block party that much because its a mediocre festival but the stage set up the last two years has been a huge improvement over the previous one. If you push your way up towards the front (past the beer garden) it widens up and there is almost always free space.
more importantly their are consistently bands worth seeing. I wouldn't really say the same about bumbershoot...

I'm mostly interested in Bumbershoot, because it is a 3 day weekend, and it's only about a 1 hour flight. I haven't been to Seattle for a while, so if the lineup isn't that great, I'll check out who is worth seeing, and find other ways to have fun down town.

I really think that most things come down to "The ____________ festival is what you make of it." You really can make the most of any situation.

I wouldn't really say the same about bumbershoot... The lineups are definitely pretty good! I didn't have a good experience at it in '09 due to the heat and some "things" I may have ingested. Just made for a miserable and sweaty mess for me, and we were so far back during Sonic Youth that we just said fuck it and gave up trying to pay attention to their set.

I would have killed to have been able to go to Matt Groening's ATP last year.
