OH, OKAY. Halloween. Bjork. Deerhunter. Paris. This new thing where my favorite bands play shows on Halloween that I can't afford to go to sure is fun.

I am going to a festival in Vegas called Life Is Beautiful. Not really the best lineup or anything but it worked out for us so we are jumping on it. There are a few nuggets that I am excited about though: Stevie Wonder Kendrick Lamar Thievery Corporation Run The Jewels Rebelution Badbadnotgood & Ghostface Killah Dan Deacon Two Gallants Shamir If any of you know some of the other bands on this lineup that you think are worth checking out let me know. lineup.lifeisbeautiful.com/ Like I said above...not really the best lineup but STEVIE WONDER! And they have a wicked announcement video: I know I'm way late but I've been on the vacation. Agree, lineup is kind of lame and you seem to have gotten most of the good ones. I would ad Weezer because I think they are super fun live (at least the 2 times I saw em) but lots of people don't agree. Also Lindsey Sterling is interesting if nothing else, definitely worth checking out if you have nothing else to see. Overall it's a really well run festival. Make sure to spend some time wandering around and checking out some of the other activities if there are no shows you want to see. Pace yourself on arrival time since it's entirely on pavement and them making it a month earlier means it is going to be HOT until at least 4pm. It probably isn't worth showing up at 1pm to see one set if you have nothing to for a few hours after since you'll just burn yourself out and enjoy the later sets less. Entry is generally a breeze and sticking 3 beers in your shorts has been known to work. That being said you can bring beers everywhere, but the options were very limited. Food was great. I wouldn't bother packing a lunch, it was all fairly priced by festival standards.

Thanks for the info Davers! I have never really listened to Weezer enough to form an opinion of them. That being said, I know that I have heard tons of their songs over the years. My wife is super excited to see them so we will be at that set for sure.

I'm doing this one again. Ah! Fuck, why does Austin have to be so far away? I know there is little to no crossover between Levitation and Sasquatch, but I have small children I could offer in sacrifice if it would get us Brian Wilson performing Pet Sounds at the Gorge. Also, that is officially the first 2016 festival lineup announcement I've seen. So it begins.

Got my levitation ticket. I can't even believe I'm about to see Brian Wilson performing Pet Sounds and my favorite band (Animal Collective, who were heavily influenced by the Beach Boys) in the same weekend. Avey Tare actually let the cat out of the bag a day before the official announcement in a comment on his Instagram. I thought it was a joke bc it was too good to be true. I've been listening to the Beach Boys a lot lately in preparation, it's the strangest thing because I was WAY into them from 2nd-6th grade, so when I hear them now I get all these super old memories coming back to me. I actually have choreographed dances with my step sister to "409", "Surfer Girl" and "Help me Rhonda" that I had almost forgotten about until now. My step dad was a drummer in a band in Hawaii and he got to open for the Beach Boys a few times. Listening to his vinyl BB records was one of the ways we bonded. Most of the bands I listened to as a very young child aren't worth listening to anymore but god damn the Beach Boys/Brian Wilson were so far ahead of their time, re-listening almost 20 years later and I am still so impressed. Can't fuckin wait.

In this season of shitty festival lineup announcements, it's good to know that Moogfest is still out there keeping it 100.

I get so excited any time I see Sun Ra Arkestra doing anything because I always think they are going to quit before I get a chance to see them and I NEED TO SEE THEM. I thought Actress was done, but I guess not. Fucking awesome. Get that dude on a plane and over to Sasquatch.

I don't know much about Actress but he did put out an LP this year under the name Levantis, so there's that.

Who, what what??? I needs to hear. He said he was retiring the Actress name, so I guess that just means a new name for album but still playing shows as Actress? That isn't confusing at all.
