Yeah, I think I might be down for that! Great lineup! Although unless there is a pre-sale, I won't be able to get tickets until after Coachella.... I might be coming by myself too. Any of you Vancouver boarders wanna hang out? Dude yes! Sweet yeah, looks like I'll be rolling solo and if there are still tickets available when I get back to civilization on Monday I will grab one!

Fuck me. Remember how I said it'd be disappointing no matter what? That didn't happen.

Let me know if you find any decent deals for suites/houses/condos/whatever. I think that will probably be the best option for me too. Expedia has some decent deals on stuff in Whistler Village.

Seems to be lots of interest in this so we should probably make a separate thread

I wonder if Pemberton will get the Nine Inch Nails / Soundgarden tour (or one of the two). The festival runs July 18-20. That tour starts in Nevada on the 19th, and there's a show in Colorado on the 20th. Admittedly, I know very little about Canadian geography, but I think they could conceivably show up. I know Nine Inch Nails came through the northwest in the fall, but Soundgarden hasn't announced a PNW show since the cancellation of the July weekend of Sasquatch. Nine Inch Nails played the only other Pemberton Festival. I can see this happening. I win. Pretty unlikely. Pemberton is a ~2.5 hour drive to the major airport in Vancouver with no traffic. There will be lots of traffic. Tearing down any sort of stage show and getting it to Nevada in one day is all but impossible. davers loses. Sorry pal.

I wanna go, like real bad. But I am sketched out by the poor organization.
Just how bad is the camping situation/parking/traffic situation? Can anyone who has been before give us the details? Is it worth it to camp onsite? Do you really leave your car somewhere else and shuttle to a campground? HALP!

Is it worth it to camp onsite? Do you really leave your car somewhere else and shuttle to a campground? HALP! Ive checked out the website and have a pretty good understanding of what's going on. Apparently the traffic situation will be improved because of the construction for the Vancouver 2010 olympics, but I am honestly not too sure about that. Camping onsite is: you park your vehicle and either walk or get shuttled to your campsite with your gear. Apparently the quantity of alcohol you are bringing will also be limited, but it does not have any specifics. Alcohol is allowed in the campgrounds. The options are either to camp as I have said, or buy a shuttle pass and stay somewhere in Whistler. Personally, I have a fairly big group and we are going to go for the RV camping option. Also, theres a thread specifically about this festival that's up and running now.

That's how it was in 2008, yes.
No idea how it will be this year. Camping on-site was killer the first time. Everything was all marked out in the field (spraypainted lines), there was a general store, huge water tanks for free water, and it was all within about a 5 minute walk of the venue.
The venue was good, but any time there was any wind it was a dust-storm. Hope for at least a little rain when you're there or bring a bandana to cover your mouth and nose.
Security was the big clusterfuck of the weekend, since they walked off early on. There was nobody checking wristbands anywhere but to get into the dance tent which was obscenely under-sized and the site of a small riot when they weren't letting people in for DFA1979 even though the tent was empty. I'm sure that will be different this time though.
Traffic I can't really speak to since we got there super early, but that part is pretty well documented elsewhere.
Parking/shuttle sucked. We parked at the railyard where they had shuttle buses take everybody (with their camping gear) to the site, but the busses were only coming every 45 minutes or so. So there we were, probably 1000 of us, sitting in 35+ degree (celsius) weather waiting for a bus to take maybe 30 at a time. It was brutal, and the worst part of the weekend for our group.
**EDIT** Forgot about the no-alcohol thing. They didn't really check any of the bags or anything due to the logistical nightmare they were having with transport. This year I can only assume they're not going to be crazy about it either. Last time, due to security walking off, people were just walking to town and coming back with their arms full of alcohol. They also sold it at the general store I believe, for an inflated price.

The biggest question is how I'm going to get so many Corn chips into Cananananananada.

As for corn chips, the place you're going to is somewhat infamous for their corn chips. Just sayin'

The biggest question is how I'm going to get so many Corn chips into Cananananananada. The answer is that you are not going to try and bring anything over the border and stay out of jail.
