No real interest in the Calgary one for me besides RJD2, so I won't be going. It's got: Dillon Francis Flosstradamus RJD2 Smalltown DJs Zeds Dead "More to be announced" My sister gets to go to the Denver one though, which has Outkast and Run the Jewels. Got my tickets, but yeah that's a pretty disappointing start. For some reason Netsky and Big Gigantic are showing up on Songkick so here's to hoping. I have to believe that Diplo will be there in some capacity too.

He posted about MDBP on Facebook and he claims that Netsky and Big Gigantic will be there.

I'd consider the Vancouver one for Fatboy (assuming he's good at Chella) Bear Mountain and STRFKR.
What do tickets to this thing run? I can't even see where you guys are getting the lineups from.

I bought a pre-sale ticket for Calgary this morning with a couple extras (Diplo mix tape, stickers, other crap) for $55. If you scroll down on the Mad Decent Block Party site it gives a breakdown of each city. cdn.maddecentblockparty.com/index.html

This was the most poorly organized event I've ever attended last year, was really hoping that the lineup wouldn't include somebody that would entice me enough to make me return. Looks like I'm in luck ha!

I never understood how Billy Talent ended up being a thing. Was that Canadia's fault as well?
Also, The Wallflowers are the best so that's cool.

The Antlers have shows in Vancouver and Seattle in July, but they're skipping Portland. I'm officially rumoring them for MFNW. Unfortunately MFNW made a huge mistake by moving the once great and unique festival to the waterfront. Seeing The Antlers at the Doug Fir again would have been incredible. I don't understand this. Where on the waterfront? Last year it was at various venues like it always is, and the main stage is Pioneer Square.

I'm super stoked about this 'cause it means this year I can actually attend!

That Block Party thing looks decent except that it's on a Sunday. Rock the Shores on the other hand looks absolutely terrible! I know there are a lot of festivals these days making for slim pickings for bookings but they really managed to scrape the bottom of the barrel with that line up.

Are you guys kidding? Tom Cochrane WITH Red Rider??! That's just too much to handle.
Jk. I'm still wrapping my head around the idea of a band calling themselves Monster Truck and achieving any sort of success. That lineup's weird in that its target demographic seems to be tweens and fifty-somethings.
Any word about that Pemberton sneak peek? If such a thing truly exists...

I remember hearing a Monster Truck song once upon a time and enjoying it. I have no idea what it was called though. Good story, right?
I believe they opened for Slash when he was here last, so that should give an indication of their genre.

I recognize them only from their appearance on one of the consistently-awful NHL soundtracks.

Rock the Shores is 3 days this year? With THAT lineup? Wow.
Billy Talent is certainly Canada's fault, though I had no idea they were much of a thing outside of Canada. Fun fact, they were pretty much the first concert I ever attended. It was awesome because DFA 1979 and Metric opened. 16 year old me also loved Billy Talent.
Monster Truck is actually fairly enjoyable dude rock, but that isn't even a good lineup for a 1 day festival, let alone 3.

It's a music festival aimed at those who listen to the local canadian classic rock and/or rig rock station. A drunkfest before a music fest really. The truck nuts crowd will be out in full force.

J.Phlip posted on facebook that she is going to be at What The Festival. I am predicting more Dirtybird artists. There's no doubt in my mind Claude is closing out the festival. At this point it's a tradition and it would make me very sad if they stopped now. Also I saw Christian Martin and J Phlip on Friday and it was awesome. Dirtybird never ever disappoints. Speaking of WTF, I started my new job today so I couldn't get online quick enough to buy my early bird ticket. I was going to be really upset about this, but then I realized that I just started a fucking awesome job and very soon that $50 savings will mean very little to me. I got paid twice that much just yesterday because they paid me for the time I spent flying to San Francisco for training. I know this is quickly turning in to a "what made you smile today" post, but god damn I'm excited about this job. I'm kind of floating around on a high just because of how well today went!
