There are plenty of dirty motels in Squamish. I haven't looked into the festival deeply enough to know what services they're offering. If I go I'll just camp on a friend's lawn, but I know that isn't an option for everyone.

I went last year, though the lineup wasnt half this good. Headliners were matt good, bad religion, Devo and the Decemberists. Still a pretty damn good time and cheap if you live in Vancouver. It wasnt nearly as crowded as I expected, I was able to get near the front for every headliner. But, again, the lineup this year is substantially better.
I did what winston did and camped on a "friends" lawn. These were people my brother met at a party once, and he called them and asked if a few of us could camp on their lawn. Not only did they let us but we drank at their house beforehand and hung out with them all day. Some people are amazingly nice.
Anyway, there's public campgrounds all over the place and cheap hotels in town. Not quite the same as sasquatch, but for $109 its still worth it.

Devo! That would have been cool. I was hoping for Devo at Sasquatch this year.

Devo was probably second best after Bad Religion, but thats just because I love Bad Religion. I had about zero expectations for Devo and I was very entertained.

hmmm...so I'm guessing it probably wont sell out eh.
I might wait and see if Girl Talk makes his way out West before buying a ticket then. That's a heck of a drive for me. Although Metric and Weezer are pretty awesome live.

Doubt it will sell out quickly, but who knows since Weezer can sell out stadiums and during the Olympics Girl Talk packed 8000+ people into Livecity Yaletown (though it was a free show).
I have no idea what capacity is there, but it didnt even seem half full last year.

I have it on good authority that Girl Talk will hit Calgary this summer.

Is that so? Looking at his tour dates I was thinking that would be a pretty good possibility. Stampede would just be bananas.

man, Sled Island is looking sweet this year. I hope we get some runoff in Edmonton. In other news, Live@Squamish is happening again this year on August 20/21 and includes: Weezer, Metric, John Butler Trio, Girl Talk, Major Lazer, Shad, The Zolas, Dubtribe Sound System, and much more! $109 for a weekend pass on the earlybird until April 7th at 10pm. Regular Price $179. I bet this means John Butler Trio will be on the Dave Matthews Band Festival on September Long Weekend at The Gorge.... Yeah that last batch of bands announced for Sled has some awesome shit. From what I understand the Friday night mainstage is going to be ALL METAL!!! C'mon, Sleep, Bison B.C., High oin Fire and The Sword. Based on that the Saturday mainstage will more than likely be pretty stacked with The Dandy's, Of Montreal, The Raveonettes, Kurt Vile and so on. Can't wait.

The second Dave Matthews festival just got announced for mid July in Chicago.
Another pretty stellar lineup (aside from three nights of Dave Matthews...ugh): Ben Folds!!!!, Flaming Lips, Kid Cudi, Edward Sharpe, David Gray, Emmylou Harris, Michael Franti...
Still two more to come. I assume the one in September will be annual Gorge show?

When the hell are we going to get a Ben Folds Five reunion tour? Hasn't Ben realized yet that none of us care about his crotchety adult contemporary bullshit?

Eminem, Muse and Foo Fighters don't inspire me to commit.

Oh cool, they get Stuffed and Unstrung. I've been really curious about that. Usually I'm bothered by Muppets swearing and doing crass things, but when its the Henson company itself responsible for the production it is a little different. Like the sketches Jim did for the first season of SNL.

Wasn't a tour, but there was that completely random playing of Unauthorized Biography of Reinhold Messner (my favorite) a couple years ago. Damned if I didn't skip an exam to get those tickets right at 10AM only for them to get sold out in less than a second before I could get to 'em.
