Don't forget about Todd Terje, who made a song that James Murphy played last year at Sasquatch that I still listen to on a weekly basis. Everyone who was at James Murphy will remember this, if you don't already know it. [soundcloud]https://soundcloud.com/toddterje/todd-terje-inspector-norse[/soundcloud] Amazing. I've been wondering for the past 11 months what some of the songs were that he played. His DJ set was the most fun I've ever had at the dance tent by a huge margin.

I laugh every single time I see Goat(se) listed on European festivals. It just never gets old for me.
But yeah, that festival is fucking stacked.

Damn, that Sled Island lineup is beautiful, then again with John Dwyer and Tim Hecker curating, I didn't know what I was expecting. Do it. I'll host party with strippers and kegs (thats pretty much what my house will be like all summer anyway). Kewl.

It's that time of year again where I brag about the Hopscotch lineup and see if anyone cares. Not as amazing as last year, but then again it was never gonna be amazing as last year. Also, one of my bands is playing it this year, so that's cool. $1 to (or a loonie?) to whoever guesses which band that is. I'm interested to see what bands you people think I am. (Sorry, I shouldn't have used "you people." That's offensive.

Damn y'all got me. That period there where I was sneaking onto the internet at my boarding school in Somoa was tricky, but I did what I could.

Holy shit Merzbow is coming to America!
Lumps, you are obviously in Coke Bust. BUSTED. As well as performing as DJ Paypal to make a little internet credits on the side.
From Merzbow's website:
Those shows are going to be fucking incredible, and they're all he has scheduled in this country right meow. You lucky bastahd. I would be giving this festival serious consideration had Godspeed not just announced a 3peater in the PNW the same weekend.

Yeah, that's one of the things I love about Hopscotch is they last year started an improviser in residence thing. Last year, Chris Corsano took that role, and I got to see him perform multiple times at day parties (though unfortunately none of the sets for the main festival involved him, I had it almost completely set in my mind that he was going to end up playing with Deerhoof, or maybe even Thee Oh Sees, but alas). Of course, Burritoman, I'm sure you already knew this, but on top of being an insanely great improvisational drummer, he's also Bjork's current touring drummer. Then this year, Merzbow takes that role which is always going to be killr.

And funny thing I learned about Coke Bust (was reading random select band's biographies on the hopscotch site), is they're a STRAIGHT EDGE band.

Is it cheating if I know what band you're in already?

One of these years I will attend your festival because that improvisor in residence shit is totally my bag. I forget sometimes that Merzbow is fairly skilled with the styx, in addition to lending his noises and experiments to other artists. Hopefully you get a combinatioon of both.
