So is Bumbershoot rebranding themselves as Paradiso-West? It's pretty clear they're making a last ditch effort to ride the coat tails of the EDM surge. Pretty bummed I spent money on presale passes, but I'll be selling those and attending FYF Fest now instead! Technically USC just migrated their anniversary East to a larger venue, but I definitely see what your saying. So much EDM cheese. I thought USC was pretty involved in the "EDM" side of Bumbershoot lately. I had high hopes for Bumbershoot this year, but it's definitely not worth the Labor Day travel costs with that lineup. Now I have my eye on Life Is Beautiful since it has such rave reviews. I can fly in and stay in a hotel cheaper in Vegas.

I am going this year and it will be my first, was wondering what it's like

I've been to FFF Fest in Austin (same company) and well I used to be a huge fan up until the debacle of 2014 in which due to "our fault" there was an increase in demand for tickets at will call (even though most ordered it be shipped) and thus the waiting line to get in was that of 5 (increasing too because people were cutting) (oh and the line was more than a mile away) hours. I missed out on a whole day. MISSED OUT ON JUDAS FUCKING PRIEST and Yelle! Stupid twats. They issued a statement basically blaming us for it and that they won't reimburse anybody. Last time that happened at Coachella, they gave the customers a pass for next year.
So yeah FUCK FFF and FUCK FYF. I used to post regularly on their FB telling them how much they suck dick but I got banned.
EDIT: I think the same thing happened at FYF the same year.

I was told that you can go to Will call office the day before the fest so I'm hoping that takes care of this potential issue because on FYF reddit they said the Will call line is quite bad still as recent as last year

Man I hate LA, what a drag. Great lineup though.

I thought FYF was basically Golden Voice (the people that do Coachella) now. I heard bad things a couple years ago but from what I understand they remedied a lot of those issues last year.
I've never been either and I generally hate LA but that is a solid lineup.

Yea I combed through the FYF thread on the Coachella forum today, and it sounds like all of the logistical nightmares from 2014 got sorted out. Apparently the arena (which was still causing capacity issues like Key Arena does during Bumbershoot) is getting torn down this spring and will be replaced by a tent for the festival. We're going to make a trip out of it and hit up Six Flags and the beaches as well. Never spent any time in LA, so I might as well do some touristy things.

And yes, AEG operates FYF. They don't have any current affiliation with FFF. I'm not sure they ever did, to be honest.

This is exactly what we are doing too, I'm not sure if I hate LA yet because last time I was there I was like 7 and only went to Disney Land so as far as I'm concerned, LA is the happiest place on earth

Well Pemberton camping is sold out, which is something like 20-25K people, maybe even more from what I understand.
This could very well sell out entirely. The lineup blows, but a combination of a fair price and things the kids love seems to be enough to get things done. I'm thinking their efforts in the past couple years to make it a complete experience with art and water slides and ball pits even though ticket sales weren't great is paying off.
A fun experience with an ok lineup without having to blow a months rent (hint fucking hint Sasquatch) will probably sell well with the early 20s demographic these days.

Pemberton is still pretty expensive. $315 a ticket plus camping is pretty steep.

Lineup permitting, I really hope to return to Pemberton within the next year or two. I love that part of BC so damn much.

Pemberton is still pretty expensive. $315 a ticket plus camping is pretty steep. Presale tickets were $249 and first wave was $279 I believe... Still, $400 Canadian is a lot less than $400 American. Despite the shit show of having to walk your stuff in I think Pemberton does an overall better job. There's fun things to do, food and beer options are much better, camping is beside the festival... It would be really interesting to see how sales would be if you straight up swapped their lineups and kept everything else the same. I would definitely be headed to Pemberton if that was the case.

Better lineup would fix both those problems.

Burrito flew down there yesterday for it. I think it goes without saying that he's pretty crushed. I feel terrible for the guy.

King Gizzard posted on FB that they were still heading there and they would announce a venue as soon as they locked one down. I'm hoping more bands did the same to help take the sting out of the festival cancellation. But still, damn that sucks.

Yea everything I've heard sounds like organizers, bands, venues, and fans are all bonding together to make the best of the situation, but damn, something like this would just about ruin my year. Hopefully some good can come out of this when it's all said and done.
