Flaming Lips with Superchunk is going to be a fantastic headliner/subheadliner combo the next night too ('specially since I'm still a Flaming Lips virgin)

But FUCK the Flaming Lips! I listened to a couple youtubes of them and let me tell you, they stink! Some of the songs didn't have lyrics and another one I just didn't like because there was practically nothing catchy about it (though I only heard the first 30 seconds, but there weren't even any drums to dance to, so you know... blah puke fart on them!) Judging by the youtubes I am sure their show would be super boring with no singing or drums. A fucking +

I youtub'd Superchunk and they seemed to be more upbeat from the 40 seconds I heard of them. See them and then go home instead of seeing the Flaming Lips.

You're the bestest, lumpz. We'll let you know our plans. We're still trying to figure them out as well. That said, once we actually do have a place to live, you're welcome there for any ATL show as well! But that's a given.

Hopscotch looks cool, but it seems like a logistic nightmare. It appears like an impossibility to see more than, say 15 bands.
-ADDITIONALLY- i mean, there's 11 different bars playing music simultaneously, and they don't start till 9 pm? and they're scattered throughout Raleigh?
for example even though The Flaming Lips are technically top-billed... there could be like another 11 bands playing around town I might also want to see? hmm. tricky.

I really enjoyed Twin Shadow at coach! I had never heard of them before and went based on a recommendation. Pleasantly surprised.
That Glasto lineup humps. I would be pissed if I was going this year. Bestival on the other hand looks amazing.
Where is hopscotch?

I think I already mentioned this to you earlier today, but you are guaranteed no conflicts with Flaming Lips, Guided By Voices, Superchunk, Drive-By Truckers, The Dodos, and the Light Pines. That all goes on in the City Plaza in the middle of a block of downtown Raleigh from 5-10, then everything else starts basically at the end of the headliner that night. (Disclaimer: there may be overlap between headliners and the very lowest billed acts of the fest, but other than the headliners mentioned above, all the big bands will probably play after midnight.)

Addition to Electric Picnic...
Public Enemy, The Drums; Blonde Redhead; Zola Jesus; Santigold; The Undertones; The Family Stone; Joan As Policewoman; Power Of Dreams; Best Coast; Yuck ; 3 Epkano.
Nothing that great in my opinion...but I'm still considering going as a post-graduation trip.

Nothing that great in my opinion...but I'm still considering going as a post-graduation trip. I'd be interested in seeing every single one of those additions! Cat and I have been talking about going to this as well... the only problem is the value of the dollar has been steadily depleting by the day - thus making the trip even more expensive. ... Man, I really should have listened to Gordon Liddy & the people over at Rosland Capital and invested in GOLD!
