Calgary X-Fest Announced: Blink-182/City and Colour/Weezer/Passion Pit/AWOLNATION/Mother Mother/Dan Mangan/The Weakerthans/The Sheepdogs/Cold War Kids/DFA1979/Yukon Blondes/Capital Cities/PhantogramOther than The Weakerthans, that is the laziest fucking line-up I've seen in a long time. I hate to rag on x, but I agree.

X-Fest has always had a shit lineup. Phantogram would be sweet, but I'm not paying $130 to see them.

Yeah I think I'll pass on X-Fest this year... Luckily there's a bunch of good stuff coming up in Calgary this summer.

So Eugene, Oregon (my current city of residence) is jumping into the festival market this year with a three day festival in late August. Here's the phase 1 lineup. Mostly EDM type acts which isn't my genre really. Phase 2 to be revealed "in the next 48 hours". Is this a good lineup for this kind of music? I really have no idea. www.kaleidoscopemusicfestival.com/

Were I to go to that, I would definitely see Afroman. Amp Live for sure, Blue Scholars, Anjali and The Kid. But must importantly, Amp Live.

Definitely not a bad lineup for a small new festival. A few big names, quite a few good artists under the obvious headliners too. After the rest of the lineup gets announced, I'd contemplate going if I can afford it!

The Sled Island schedule was released this week, and fuck me, it's going to be great!!! Very minimal amount of conflicts. Skipping Superchunk to see Jon Spencer Blues Explosion was tough, as was choosing between Divine Fits and Thee Oh Sees. Since I just saw Thee Oh See last November, Divine Fits won the battle.
Also, Badchoices will be happy...I'm able to catch the entire Good to Die showcase with Monogamy Party, Rabbits, Deadkill and Gaytheist. I can't think of a better way to spend my Saturday afternoon than watching these bands in the basement of The Palomino.

I think I'm buying a 3-day Bumbershoot pass tomorrow. Looking at the day by day schedule, there's no one day I would want to skip. Haven't done this since '09 I think. Crazy.

Pretty sure I'm only gonna go to Bumbershoot on Saturday for Kendrick and Heart but I may end up there on Monday as well.

Ooh, that reminds me. I gotta check out the comedy lineup! I've been listening to too many live podcasts from there lately not to go catch one or two.

I'm in the same boat, I think I am going to wait a week or two and talk to a few friends to see if they would be willing to split on a hotel and I may do the same...

All 4 of them are great for different reasons yet they all have one thing in common....they take an audience and turn them into a puddle with their awesomeness.

I will let you know what I think once I've recovered from the show. It's a ways off yet, so I still have time to familiarize myself with the bands I don't know very well (Rabbits and Deadkill).
