I see no need to change the title. If there is a title change, however, I'm going to flat out refuse any of those juvenile stupid nicknames. It's embarrassing. No Flounders, no Sporting Kansas Shitty, no Colorado Crapids, none of it. Take some pride in your shit talk.

I wish J-dub would stop changing the names of the threads he started.

It was the soccer thread again for just a second (and thanks to stamper for pulling me back in), but then I saw the name discussion. Foot Fetishes was one that Know had put forward that I thought was pretty damn funny.

If Pea posts in the soccer thread, does it make a sound? Oh well...
Sounders wrapped up the regular season yesterday with a 17-7-9 record, finishing 2nd in the west and overall. We start the playoffs on November 2nd or 3rd against Real Salt Lake.
Some other cool things from this season...
League leaders in goals with 56.
Season high attendance with 64,140 packed into the CLink on October 15th. (If you know anything about soccer in America, you know how big that number is.)
3rd consecutive Open Cup winners.
Advanced past the group stage into the quarterfinals of the CONCACAF Champions League which will resume in March.
Absolutely amazing season so far. Especially considering our early loss of Zakuani with the leg injury and White with leg surgery. My only worry is Rosales' MCL tear that got re-injured last night. Hoping he recovers in time for the playoffs because we desperately need him on the field to keep us in the running for the cup.

glad to hear your Sounders have performed well this season!! Good luck in your playoffs. How many teams make it to the playoffs? i'd look but i doubt Major League Soccer actually has a website. As for my beloved Arsenal... they've turned the corner of late - and are showing signs of life, winning 6 of their last 7. still, they have a long way to go and still need to get a whole lot better. still, yesterday was an absolutely wonderful day -- not only did Arsenal win, but Manchester United got thumped, losing at home to Manchester City 6-1. And to make the day even better, Chelsea also lost and had 9 PLAYERS CARDED, two of which were straight RED CARDS. Now those two players won't be able to play against Arsenal next Saturday. YAY!

10 teams make it into the playoffs. Kind of silly considering there are only 18, but oh well.
Glad to hear about your gunners as well! I heard about that ManU v ManC score yesterday. Pretty awesome!
2 straight reds to Chelsea in one match?? Damn son...

i think it's a huge opportunity for that guy - to be able to practice with Arsenal. as for the US's place in the future of the sport... who knows?

And Brek Shea is pretty much the best American soccer player right now. This is definitely a very cool thing for him!

First off, Seattle signed 30 year old 6'5 goalkeeper Michael Gspurning, an Austrian national player that last played in Greece's premiere league, as our new #1 goalie. There has been some great chatter about him so I'm really excited to have him in our net. He has an extra 2 inches on our keeper that just retired which is another bonus. Can't wait to see what he can do for us.
Here's the breakdown of all things new for the MLS in 2012:
-Montreal will join the Eastern conference as a 10th team. The nine teams in the West will remain the same.
-The 34 game unbalanced schedule for teams in the West will consist of three games against each Western conference team (24 games total, two games at home vs. half, two games on the road vs. half, schedule reversed in 2013) and one game against each Eastern conference team (10 games total, half at home, half on the road, schedule reversed in 2013).
-It gets a little more complicated in the East. Those teams will play seven other Eastern Conference teams three times and two other Eastern Conference teams twice (25 games total). They will also play against each Western Conference team once (nine games total, home and aways to be reversed in 2013).
-10 teams advance to the playoffs, but this time it's just the top five from each conference. The unbalanced, conference-heavy schedule has gotten rid of the need for wild cards.
-The fourth and fifth place finishers play a single knockout game with the winner facing the No. 1 seed in the conference semifinals. The conference semifinals and now also the conference finals will be two-leg, home-and-home series.
-MLS Cup hosting rights will be given to the finalist with the best regular-season record. It will no longer be played at a predetermined site.
The unbalanced schedule is a fucking mess and I'm really worried about what it's going to end up looking like as it unravels. I am, however, happy that we'll have more opportunities to play the other Northwest teams. The Sounders/Timbers/Whitecaps rivalries are second to none in the league and will hopefully continue to help boost attendance and viewers. I'm also really happy to see another Canadian team enter the league as well. I'd like to see some Toronto/Vancouver/Montreal rivalries begin to form this coming year.
