It's got all the same tics as Mulholland Drive, and if you don't like surrealism, melodrama or bizarre imagery, (which are the things that I think drive people nuts about Lynch), then I don't think you'd like Twin Peaks.

But it does conform to a relatively recognizable plot, with lots of interesting characters, so there's a chance.

You should probably try Eraserhead or The Elephant Man.

Twin Peaks is actually some of the most straight-forward Lynch there is. There is a LOT of weirdness but most of it is very character driven. If anything I kind of wish for MORE ambiguity; the network kind of forced Lynch's hand in a couple of ways so that it wouldn't alienate people. It DEFINITELY has some pacing and character issues in the middle of the seconds season, but all told it is a really great story. I can understand not liking Mulholland Drive, it's not for everyone. But Twin Peaks is something pretty special.

Props to Surfer Blood for their song "Twin Peaks." I would have never discovered David Lynch without them.

Dude I thought you hated movies. If David Lynch is the exception to that rule then I have just legitimately been thrown for a loop.

I just thought the notion that someone could reach their thirties without having heard of David Lynch or Twin Peaks was kind of absurd, made even more absurd by the thought a song by a Pitchfork favorite would shine the light. It was a spoof post. Still never seen Twin Peaks either way.

Twin Peaks is a little different than Mulholland drive, but still very David Lynch as others have commented. I personally like it quite a bit, although after the mystery of who killed Laura was solved it devolved into a mess that had relatively fewer good moments.
womp, I have the entire series on DVD if you wanted to borrow a disc or two.

I used to have Twin Peaks trading cards, without ever having seen it. Still not sure how that one happened; wish I still knew where they were though!

I just finished Season One of Game of Thrones. WOW. I didn't think I would like it that much since I'm not much of a fantasy novel person (I did read and LOVE Lord of the Rings, but I don't think that gets me any cred). The opening sequence for that show is beautiful, it gets me every time. I also haven't ever seen so many different stories in a TV series. I really liked it. When does the next season start?? I need it ASAP

I know... I'm not happy about that. Any other suggestions for series to watch?
