Under The Skin was intriguing/trippy and I dug it a lot. Looked and sounded beautiful. If you like weird/pretty movies, I recommend it! PS- ScarJo is a super talented babe and nothing is left to the imagination. Oops, I thought this was the movie's thread, derp.

Fargo is quite possibly the best thing to happen to television in quite some time. It's like they took everything I've loved on tv in the last 10 years, rolled it into one show, and added Billy Bob Thornton.

Game of Thrones So, uh, yeaaaaaaaah. That wasn't in the books. Fucking Tom Bombadil. Well, whereas Tom Bombadil-lo was omitted from the films, the TV series turns consensual sex into rape, because you know, drama.

Eh, whatevs. It's not like there hasn't been plenty of raping and/or many other forms of sexual violence on Game of Thrones up to this point. This instance isn't any more upsetting than any of the previous instances just because that's not how it happened in the book.
Unless I hear cries of outrage over every rape scene in Game of Thrones from here on out, I'm going to assume that the uproar is more attributable to all the Tom Bombadil supporters out there and not people taking offense to what actually happened onscreen.

ALSO: I'm ninety pages from the end of Clash of Kings. While there is no shortage of raping in the books OR the television series, the instances of rape that occur in the series precisely as they do in the books are basically zero.
There's lots and lots of raping in Game of Thrones. It's not like the scene in question here would have been a many-splendored thing if it had been faithful to the written word -- it would have been weird and gross anyway. So unless we're going to throw the baby out with the bathwater, I feel like it makes more sense to leave conversations regarding rape culture out of conversations about HBO original programming.

I agree with the vast majority of this but it really doesn't help when the director weighs in and says that he didn't think it was rape because she eventually consents. That shits unacceptable on any level. I also don't think it's just Tom Bombadil-ism that's upsetting people about this. It really doesn't make any sense from a plotting perspective. It's an unnecessary change made by the director because he wanted to shock the audience more and/or completely does not understand what rape is.

Personally, I'm happy to just watch the show and not seek out or give a shit about what the director has to say about it. Director of Game of Thrones is an asshole? That's a bummer, but he's not my friend or anything so whatever.

I'm going to preface this comment by stating I don't condone rape in any way - fictional or not - but I thought the point of that interaction might have been to illustrate how emotionally destroyed Cersei had become. Throughout the first 3+ seasons, she had shown a lot of outward confidence and even recently tried to establish superiority over his lover/brother by spurning his affection since he returned. But she was so overcome with emotion over a large spoiler that she breaks her persona and succumbed to familiar affection. The scene is undoubtedly set as rape, though.

I understand why people are mad but I wouldn't have thought much about it if other people hadn't made it such a clear issue. I'm not thrilled but I'm moving on from it.

Yeah, I still watch Portlandia. I just thought I'd share this on the Sasquatch boards because of the Sasquatch artists involved.

Just finished up watching all 3 seasons of Girls in a week. Didn't think I'd be interested in it at all but ended up really liking it.
Anyone watch Attack on Titan? I watched the first episode last night and thought it was really good. Might end up watching it with subs online so I don't have wait a full week for each episode.

Girls is great, especially season 3. Right now I am super into Hannibal and Fargo. Also into Californication and Mad Men. We just started watching Silicon Valley last night and I really like it.

I'm so glad someone else is watching Fargo; it's way too good to go to waste. Billy Bob Thornton has such a knack for making the most despicable characters oddly likeable, but I'm not sure if I can forgive him after he killed that dog in last week's episode.

Same here. Really, I've never had much use for Billy Bob in anything else. He's so fucking great in Fargo, though.
I'M SO INTO THAT SHIT RIGHT NOW WHY IS IT ONLY ON ONCE A WEEK ugh
