We were just looking and those easy-up canopies are actually pretty cheap at Canadian Walmart right now. Around $60. I'm thinking I might buy one this weekend just so I don't have to do last minute looking on the way.

We needed a new canopy after ours died last year. We were going to go to the local Big 5 (even though I hate it but they are a sporting goods store) but it ended up being cheaper to get it from Amazon. $100.21 with free shipping for a 12X12 Sierra E-Z Up canopy. For some reason it was only $0.21 more than the 10X10 one. www.amazon.com/dp/B000T9QSDK/ref=cm_sw_r_fa_asp_ZT4dD.1F54DP4Holy shit! Sasquatch!!

Would this type of canopy be useless at the gorge?

I'm really not trying to be rude, but that canopy kinda looks useless for pretty much everything. Also, I think it would not do well at the gorge. It looks really hard to tie down and it gets super windy there. Giant car enclosure type canopies get blown away there.

It was the only one I was really seeing on Craigslist. I was skeptic but figure I'd defer to people who knew more. Will not be purchasing. Thanks!

Unless you weighed something like that down with a couple bricks in each corner, it would blow away within the first day. The power of the wind at the campground shouldn't be underestimated. Many of us have seen people's tents and other belongings rolling along like tumbleweed and eventually flying off the side of the cliff.

Even if you did weigh that thing down with bricks, the wind would tear it apart. Not that that would matter considering it looks like it provides about as much shade as a parasol.

I was planning on buying one but I'm considering forgoing the canopy this year since it will just be me. There's an umbrella on my picnic table, I feel like that should be enough shade.

I didn't have a canopy last year and was fine with 4 girls. I feel like 1 girl, no canopy will be okay. But, now you are making me scared...

Yeah. Water and canopy, I know. I know. It's just never been a problem for me but better safe than sorry, I'm sure.

If I do it, it's going to be the Walmart rollback kind.
