You have no idea how deep into the internet I dug to find some random ass comment on some random ass blog that brought this band up. What a great find!

Why can't every weekend be play in Portland weekend?! It is! You just aren't usually here. And Pea: I went down that exact same rabbit hole this morning and found what must have been that exact same blog. I was just away from my computer and didn't have the ability to listen to it, and then -- as I tend to do -- I forgot.

I was telling Burrito a couple weeks ago about the awesome natural phenomenon of the Portland swifts -- an enormous flock of small birds that stop along their migratory pattern every September to roost in a giant chimney in NW Portland every September. Every evening at dusk for about three weeks, a flock of thousands and thousands of these tiny birds fly in from all compass points and converge on this structure and then form a massive spiraling funnel in the sky over this chimney and then dive into it to roost for the evening.
It is in all seriousness one of the most incredible things I have ever seen, and it is totally unique to this one place in this one city. It is also among the images prominently featured in the custom visualizations for 'Pulleys' on Centipede Hz. And it is also going to be taking place during the week that Burrito, Nadine, Stormy and I are going to be hanging out for Animal Collective in Seattle and Portland.
Burrito, if there needed to be any legitimacy lent to my claims of how mind-blowing it is to witness this shit... Well, there it is.

It is impossible to convey the incredible natural spectacle of the Swifts. I didn't check it out for years and I work right next to the school. I don't want to ever go a year without seeing it now.
