There are only two other Gabby La-La fans around here, far as I know, and those two are me n' Stormy. That is a magical fucking record.
SOOOO GOOOD! I was turned on to her when I saw Les Claypool's Fancy Band, I bought her CD at the show and was hooked ever since.
The Fancy Band was so fucking rad. Just the most excellent combination of instruments and textures.
She's just a doll. We had tickets to see her at a tiny, tiny venue in Portland a couple years ago playing the material from that record but she broke her collar bone or something and had to cancel the tour. She hasn't toured since -- I hear that she joined some group that plays music for small children called the Sippy Cups.
Seeing her incredible finger-tapping might be worth the trade off. I see she is playing in Vancouver April 25th- $13 per ticket, hmmm....
Do it. Worth the price of admission twice over.
Marnie's finger tapping is definitely worth seeing live, especially since she is still lesser known enough to play small venues for a cheap cover. There are a couple boarders who think finger tapping is raunchy, and it's not my favorite type of guitar playing, but interesting nonetheless.
She didn't talk endlessly about her perennial meat stable when I saw her, if that changes anyone's opinion.
