...and then I remembered that I have to do that thing where I only listen to one non-Sasquatch band for the entire week leading up to Sasquatch. This year I chose SONIC YOUTH, so be ready for lots of them in this thread. Sonic Youth - GooSonic Youth - DirtySonic Youth - Experimental Jet Set, Trash & No StarSonic Youth - Washing MachineCiccone Youth - The Whitey AlbumStop trying to pretend to like Sonic Youth AND Ween.

I keep telling myself that Thurston and Kim are going to make up and Sonic Youth will headline Sasquatch one of these years. It's a hopeless fantasy, but it's mine. I saw them at the Gorge back in 95 and it was fucking incredible. They really are a band that has to be experienced live to truly appreciate. The last time I almost fell asleep at a show was Sonic Youth about seven years ago.

The first time I saw them was at Block Party in 2009 and they still fucking rocked. Every good band needs to be experienced live to truly appreciate.

I don't understand the Sonic Youth vs. Ween thing at all. They are two of the greatest bands and fuck you because I enjoy them both equally. I remember Gramma saying something about how it had to do with Ween's sense of humor, but fuck you again if you think Sonic Youth doesn't do jokes.

That was the only time I saw them abd there was definitely no sleeping going on. In fact, I had started dozing off on the hill before they played, then I just remember thinking "Who the fuck is making all that noise?" Oddly enough, that was the exact same reaction I had earlier in the day when I came over the hill and Beck was playing.

What the hell are you talking about? There's no hill at the Block Party I'm talking about unless you count Capitol Hill which is really more of a mountain. Also, Beck wasn't there (that I know of).

Does this make the music that much more exciting when you get to actually experience it. I should try this. Actually, if rustu delivers on that Sasquatch 14 mix I'll have to listen to that, and it will most likely be my road trip mix. Edit: I usually do the opposite and listen to only the artists from the festival leading up to it. This goes for any festival or major show.

I meant the time at the Gorge was the only time I've seen them. I guess I could have clarified that a bit more.

I'm going to deliver! I spent most of my day assembling new Ikea furniture, then I bought my wristband from Cbats (!!!!!!!), and now it's time to get down to the dirty work on the mix. Expect it tomorrow at some time.

I usually listen to mostly Sasquatch bands for the couple of months leading up to the fest, so a week before show time I drop all of that and switch it up, and then I get tired of that one band and simultaneously excited for all the Sasquatch bands.

Damn, I did not appreciate that lineup when I was 8 years old. Apparently, my 17 year old self didn't appreciate as much as I should have either. According to Wikipedia, Yo La Tengo, Built to Spill, The Roots, and Patti Smith were on the second stage and I don't remember them at all. Of course, it also says Cypress Hill was there and I'm quite certain they were in 96, not 95.
