Bjorrito: have you listened to Andrew Thomas? I got into him because he's on all the Kompakt Pop Ambient series albums and his tracks are always the best. I been rockin that shit. I've been listening to a ton of ambient lately as well. Not so much drone tho

This sounds AWESOME! Mothafuckin SIGUR ROS DJ SET? ?? Read their description for what they're going to play and tell me it doesn't sound amazing. None of them know how to mix at all, they are just going to play a bunch of weird club tracks. I can't wait. "this is not going to be wall-to-wall, hair-tossing post-rock. there will be no glacial soundscapes of awesome dimensions. neither warm bubble baths of yoga wind-down muzak. (or any of the other enduring cliches about sigur ros). instead triple nipple represents what sigur ros do when they are off-duty – you know, for fun. some of it may be tough, cool and futuristic, some of it will no doubt be high-aroma fromage. most of the cool stuff comes courtesy of sigrun jonsdottir, the band’s trombone-wielding authority on baltimore club. guitarist kjartan holm, meanwhile, pitches in with some minimal hip-hop, orri with some dubstep and, yes, you’ve guessed it, jonsi brings the extensive cheeseboard. no-one involved lays claim to be able to mix, even remotely. this is how sigur ros get down and unwind in the dressing room and on the tour bus after a show. if you’d like a window on their world, come on in. if you are expecting a mystique enhancing exercise of deep solipsism, look away now." pitchfork.com/news/51307-sigur-ros-to-dj-as-triple-nipple-for-boiler-room/

If I were to listen to one R.E.M. album, which one should it be? I'm familiar with their hits, but I have never explored their discography.

Oooh, very funky so far. Loving the horns. (I'm only two songs in, don't judge me if it all falls apart after this.)

It's definitely a solid album worth a few listens. I'm not totally sold either way on if it'll be added to my favorites of the year list. The work he put in to making this album is worth respect all on its own though. He created 20+ vinyls worth of original music with professional musicians, then used those as a base to sample from and put analog synths with it. It's mind blowing thinking about how much work he put in to doing this. If I'm not mistaken, he did way more analog work then Daft Punk did on their new album, and they praised themselves pretty highly for sticking with analog recording processes.

The Sigur Ros DJ set is going on for another 75 minutes. It's hilarious as expected. It's the three of them standing around an ipad, one of them is explaining to the others how a mixer works. They're playing lots of silly music and it's a great time. Sigur Ros on Boiler Room

I had to put Yeezus back on for a bit yesterday to help me decide which one I like more. As it stands, it's still too close to call. On a level playing field, Yeezus might be better, but Run the Jewels gets bonus points for being free and Yeezus gets a 10 penalty because Kanye West is the prime minister of Doucheland. All told, it's been a good couple weeks for hip hop. Then the new Jay-Z drops in a week or so.

A couple of years ago my local radio station played this song and Victoria responded super hard. We were one of the two places in the world (Victoria and some town in sweden I think) to pay attention to this band and because of that they came and played an invite only show that was seriously one of the most amazing shows I've ever seen. They were just ridiculous live with the way they re-imagined their songs live via looping and shit. Listening to their album tonight and just feeling so lucky for getting to experience that show.

That video is not available in my country, you should at least say the artist and song name so we can look it up!
I see the title now, the youtube video was hiding it.

I've never been much of a fan of Daft Punk (or EDM in general, for that matter), but I gotta say Random Access Memories has really grown on me. I keep finding myself putting it back on every couple days and enjoying it more every time.

Can you believe it is 10 years old? Now I will see the re-issue of it on vinyl that I should have waited to buy rather than pick up one on e-bay for a king's ransom. Oh well, it is such an incredible album and it was so great hearing it again.
