Been 'Twerkin all day with Autobahn. From now on, whenever the music snob in me starts to rustle around I'll just remind myself that I was thirty-two years old before I heard this shit.

Nine Inch Nails - The Fragile
How to Destroy Angels being a part of the Coachella lineup has completely revamped my interest in Trent Reznor. I was obviously a fan in junior high and high school, and owned a few NIN albums, but he was always the Christ-like superstar for the industrial/goth kids, and I was on a fast track to being a death metal head once I started moving away from nu-metal. Because of that I never really gave his music the attention it probably deserved, and I feel like I'm finally truly discovering him for the first time. The Fragile was always too taxing of an album for me to spend any time with, but listening now it honestly strikes me as one of the most incredible albums ever recorded. The genius that is Trent Reznor is sinking in for me more so than ever before and it's fucking blowing my mind.

It took me 5 years to realize how engrained it had become in my psyche. It just kind of crept in on me.

I remember when this album came out, because I bought it not too long afterward, but I was only 13 at the time. I owned it for probably two or three years before I sold it back to a used CD store, and I guarantee I never listened to both discs all the way through. An album like that is not something a 13 year old has even close to the capacity to fully absorb and understand, so I'm thankful that 13 years later I'm revisiting it and finally grasping it.

The first ones that come to mind are Koen Holtkamp and his band: Mountains, and Mark McGuire and his (former) band: Emeralds.

Tim Hecker, perhaps.
I'm going to go on a journey quest because I really like this kind of music and I also need more of it.

This Blanck Mass album is awesome. I'm hearing echoes of everything in everything I listen to right now. Blanck Mass is sounding like Fuck Buttons and Oneohtrix Point Never, the Phoenix album sounds like Kraftwerk, the Youth Lagoon sounds like William Basinski. It's fucking with me.
Also, I've been listening to the new Flaming Lips. I really don't like them anymore, but I like how this album sounds. I wish it weren't made by such a douchebag but I can't help but dig it.
