This is where I was going to talk about how I finally listened to all of the Zammuto album today and how great it is (thanks Burritoman) and then complain about how stupid it is he's not at Sasquatch...
...but then he just got announced for Hopscotch. ;D

I really want to see Zammuto. I am so happy we got to see the Books when we did but I really want to see his set.

I'm not sure if HG saw this, or if he has already heard it...but I feel the need to repeat myself on the off-chance that he didn't see it and hasn't heard it. PAGING HG TO THE THE NOW PLAYING THREAD.

I haven't been able to make it all the way through due to work always getting in the way, but first/second impression of the first half of it is that it reminds me of Explosions in the Sky circa Friday Night Lights. It's not as hectic and ambitious as we're used to from Krug, but on second thought this might be his most ambitious yet simply because it's not what we're used to seeing from Moonface.
Basically I'm trying to say that it's more than marimba and shit drums. Almost to the point where one could see some commercial appeal*.
*in some songs. He's still pretty experimental in others

I was so busy last week I forgot to tell you guys how rad Zammuto was live. How rad? So fucking rad. Better than both times I saw the Books. The drummer! Dude is talented. I think they played everything except 'Grown Man Don't Cry', 'Idiom Wind' and 'Harlequin', and I swear they ended their set with 'When the Saints Go Marching In', but my crew does not attest. 'The Shape of Things to Come' absolutely owned the show, and Nick kept thanking the crowd and talking to us in autotune. Great times. I shook the man's hand as I like to do, and he said headlining tour is coming our way this fall.
Also the best EitS show I've seen since Sasquatch, and there's been like 5 since then. They are finally as tight with the fifth member addition as they were with the core 4.

I am so jealous. But I would be sad not to hear Groan Man, Don't Cry. I love that song a lot.

Awesome, looking forward to it, luckily at Hopscotch he's conflicting with no one, since they have headlining city plaza shows at the beginning of the night, and that night it's Zammuto into Built to Spill into Jesus and Mary Chain. That's quite a 1-2-3 punch.

And the first track to be released from the new Neil Young and Crazy Horse is everything I thought it would be. I don't mean that in a good way.
It's not that bad I guess...
