In the first listen I was a little unsure but as I listen more I have really been digging it. It is one that I have liked a lot more listening by myself when a crowd is not buzzing though for sure.

Dan Deacon has been mentioned at least 20 times in the last week. I've never listened to his stuff before. The only thing I know about him is a green skull was stolen from a Toronto show a while back. Is that a big deal? And where should one begin?

Bromst is the definitely the crown jewel of his material but Spiderman of the Rings is a damn fine album as well.

What Fig said.
Listening to Pickle Jam right now. This better be what our little post-Sasquatch musical get-together will be like. Love it, Burritoman. Hope you guys get to play Bonnaroo.

I also finally listened to Umlaut's s/t album as recommended by thee FD, and it was crazy-awesome! Thanks, mango. 'Dirty Dishes' was a standout track, as was 'Work Truck'. I want to listen to that song every time I drive my work truck, but I can't seem to find much information about this album at all. Where the fuck can I buy me a copy?!

Wye Oak - Civilian Klaxons - Myths of the Near Future Frank Zappa - Apostrophe
So I was hanging out with HG and Stormy last night and Frank Zappa came up in one of our conversations. I have never really listened to Zappa so I decided to dive in today. Geno recommended Apostrophe as a good starting place. I love what I am hearing! I can't help but think that psychedelics are needed for the full Zappa experience though. "Great googly moogly" It's so awesome to discover new music (new to me) that is so unique and intense. I think I am going to have fun diving into the Zappa catalog.

I can't help but think that psychedelics are needed for the full Zappa experience though. Not true. Zappa despised drugs and drug users, referring to people under the influence as 'assholes in action'. His compositions are the product of a highly sophisticated musical mind, not the drug scene of the 60's and 70's. To be honest, I don't think I've ever listened to Zappa while on drugs.
