Have you heard their first album, Know? It's ridiculously phenomenal and I still hear it's influence in music coming out today. I just got it a couple months ago actually. I've only listened to it once. It's obvisoulsy on my radar now. I haven't listened to it for a while, so I can't remember off the top of my head, but I swear one of the songs on that album could have easily passed as an Animal Collective track.

I was just thinking about how well a couple of the tunes on Second Coming have aged, most notably, "Begging You."

Listenin' to this new Akron/Familiy album. I'm likin' it so far. Any of you people seen them live, since they're Portlanders? Saw 'em last September and it was one of those shows I could file under "religious experience"

Totally overlookefnd that you got 'Intermission'. Fukkun AMAZiNG. Has one of their all-time best: 'Would We Be Alive?', famously covered by Nomeansno.

Hey Know, I found the Stone Roses song that reminds me of AC. Let me know what you think.

I had a knife pulled on me walking outside of a Nomeansno show in 2002, the guy was out of his tree and eventually left me alone unscathed.
Haven't gotten around to Intermission yet, Mr. Bungle is on it's second go around! Damn California.
Back to Nomeansno, "Why Do They Call Me Mr. Happy" was in my CD player for a month straight back in Grade 6., I loved that album. Happy Bridge was definitely a very good bridge song, seriously every time I was about to switch it off that one pulled me right back in.

The screams of a terrified woman have just blasted through my less then apartment friendly turned up speakers, I think I may need to check out Intermission when I can give it all of my attention and loudness.

I actually can't take it off. As I went to my record player I was like, are those Blue Man group PVC's I hear? Excellent hypnotic Blue Man PVC's? Before I knew it I was sitting on the floor marveling at the fact that somewhere at some point this was an idealized "tune" recorded with everyone doing their "parts" just like as if they were recording, you know, any ol' song. What the fuck Residents? Then the female voices came in and I just couldn't stop smiling. On to side two.

Hey Know, I found the Stone Roses song that reminds me of AC. Let me know what you think. Yeah, I definitely see how you can make that comparison. The heavy drum hit at the beginning is very Animal Collective, as well as the occasional high hat. The instrumentation sounds very strange and electronically produced, also similar. There might be only one person here who gets this next comment, but the vocals of, muuuuyeeeeeeeeeeeow," instead of, "meeeow," is right on par with Panda Bear's recent vocal style. However, the glaring difference is this song has a real drummer, and it is very evident in Animal Collective's music that the drums are a minimal addition to their weird electronics. The occasional British accent is also another flag. But like you said, it isn't Animal Collective, it just sounds like it. By the way, I posted the Spiritualized album, "Ladies And Gentlemen We Are Floating In Space," today hoping someone would chime in. It is easily my top ten albums of all time. If you have any respect for my taste in music, and have never heard it, check it out ASAP.

I've always been curious about Spiritualized but never looked into them. I'll get on that album right now, thanks man.
UPDATE: If the rest of the album is as good as the first 2 songs are then this is going to become a staple in my collection.

Saw 'em last September and it was one of those shows I could file under "religious experience" I've seen them a few times now and they always put on a great show. They're going on tour in like a month and I'm planning on catching them again. The new album is probably my favorite of theirs since the first self-titled one fun story: I dragged a bunch of friends to see them in olympia back in 2006 after only having heard their self titled album. I told everyone it'll be a laid back show that will be really quiet. They then opened with this: no one really cared though cause the show was amazing By the way, I posted the Spiritualized album, "Ladies And Gentlemen We Are Floating In Space," today hoping someone would chime in. It is easily my top ten albums of all time. mine too, although I've never really gotten into many of their other albums. The only other one I listen to with much regularity is songs in A+E

The first two are pretty grand, but my favorite is the third song, "I Think I'm In Love." It's so ironic, is it a love song, or am I hungry? The final track, "Cop Shoot Cop," is my second favorite. A nice 16 minute epic song with craziness. It is one of the few albums I latched onto on the first listen. It is also a great 5 a.m. album.

I got through about half the album and quite enjoyed it.
I'm going to take a cosmic journey into dreamland to the new Shpongle. I can't believe I'm just now hearing it because it's nothing short of genius.
