What do you think about Fitz and the Tantrums, know? I saw them on Conan last night. First I'd listened to them.

I've only seen the film. I think I was a whole lot more enmoured by it when it first came out, but I'd still recommend it.

Anyone remember that episode of the Drew Carey show where the RHPS fans rumbled with the Priscilla: Queen of the Desert fans in the street? I'm kind of like that: there's only room in my heart for one musical about cross-dressing weirdos.
Totally off-topic, but anyone ever see Welcome to Woop-Woop? Directed by the same guy who made Priscilla, and just so good and weird and funny. I don't know if it was ever even officially released, but it's a real gem.

But I woudn't really put Hedwig in the same boat as RHPS and Prascilla, it's more of a "movie" than an all out camp extravaganza.

Ah, bums. I definitely prefer campiness.
There's a pun buried in that word. 'Campiness.'

Yeah, nothing wrong with camp, just letting you know it won't affect your campiness allegiances.
Here's a Hedwig Snorlax.

the songs from Hedwig will be in your head for days.
as far as Fitz & The Tantrums go, I finally heard a song by them and thought it was pretty decent. Can't tell you the name of it, but I'd listen to it again.
I'm not so sure about Foster the People. I just can't get behind Pumped Up Kicks.
For the record, I love The Drew Carey Show. It was so ridiculous and sarcastic. Every once in awhile I catch it on a random channel, but not nearly enough. I wish Peachtree TV would bring it back for a full hour in syndication.

I'm over at NPR where R.E.M. is premiering their new record Collapse Into Now in a 'listening party' format. Tonally falls somewhere between New Adventures in Hi-Fi and Monster.
I really liked Accelerate, which sounded amazingly like the Lifes Rich Pageant R.E.M., but two songs into the new one and I already like it better. I didn't think they could write music like this anymore.

Oh man the last track on this R.E.M. record is unbelievable. I think that's Patti Smith...??
edit: oh it totally is.
Anyone who ever loved R.E.M. needs to hear this album.

I know! Where is the justice in this world? The thing that really sucks is that we are no longer able to stream music here. Bandwidth, my ass.
HG will have to listen again when I get home.

R.E.M. - Around the Sun
Not their best, but this is the album I played all the way from Modesto to Portland when I moved here so it's got sentimental value. Plus I'm in a mood.
