Freddie Gibbs and Madlib - PiñataI have been checking my mailbox OCD style waiting for this to arrive. It is driving me crazy! I haven't heard it yet. What do you think? I'm digging the album quite a bit. Madlib's productions are all so perfect, and Gibbs does really well on the vocals on pretty much everything. I recommend it.

Have you had a chance to check out any of his medicine show series? I read an interview with Rolling Stone and Madlib said he just passed a bunch of CDs of rough cuts to Gibbs and told him to pick the ones he could vibe to. Freddie then recorded the vocals on his own and mailed them back to Madlib. Madlib then polished it and put a bow on it. My opinion is probably biased though, on account of me already being a huge fan of Das Racist not so much Freddie Gibbs. Fair enough. I am a huge fan of Freddie Gibbs and have only gotten into some Das Racist. I get what ya mean. I do want to check that Kool A.D. album though.

I listened to it a couple times again yesterday and have become all about it. There's two songs I don't especially like, but 95% of the album is great. I'd like to hear it on vinyl.

I put it on last night but my brother-in-law came up for his birthday and it was hard to hear any of the music. He was being a loud 22 year old drunk. Listened to it while running this morning and right now on Bose headphones and it sounds really good. Love that Freddie is still gansta as ever but he is flowing over those smooth Madlib beats. Cool combo. Kinda like salty and sweet.

Gibbs x Madlib album is so good. It's basically Madvillainy re-imagined for the street.
