Cloud Nothings - Attack on MemoryI really dig this one. I thought it reminded me a little of Sonic Youth, then I saw it was produced by Steve Albini and it all made sense.

Not that their first couple albums were that bad, I just like the darker, noisier sound better.

Luckily, the new single seems like they are taking that exact angle. soundcloud.com/cloudnothings/im-not-part-of-me/s-YxC9I

You are definitely new to being a hipster. This is about the 12th time I've seen you post about bands every music snob has known about for years.

This is about the 12th time I've seen you post about bands every music snob has known about for years. You got me. I've made no secret about the musical isolation I've lived in for several years and credited this board with helping me discover tons of music I otherwise would have never given a chance. Although I am decidedly not a hipster, I appreciate your concern.

The Velvet Underground is pretty good. I'm enjoying the Replacements more. Both are pretty fucking classic. I'm not the hugest VU fan but it is pretty amazing to think about their music in comparison to the time period.

I'm not the hugest VU fan but it is pretty amazing to think about their music in comparison to the time period. Definitely. It's not necessarily endless entertainment but it is fascinating from a musical perspective. I need more time to let them both sink in before I form an educated opinion on either.
