I got Age of Adz on vinyl and now I have to get drunk enough to play it. I put it on and just wept while I folded laundry instead. Sometimes something is so beautiful it hurts. Like a knife in the chest. It's like the ball thing, you can't do it all the time.

If anybody cares to give it a listen, here's a remix I made for a Pretty Lights contest. It was an idea for a song I had been slowly working on for a long time, almost finished, then found the remix contest. The vocals from the PL song fit really well so I adapted the song a bit and here it is. If it's not working, just click on the link and listen there. Soundcloud is weird about private tracks and embedding and whatnot.

I use Ableton Live with a few midi keyboards with knobs and sliders and whatnot. The high pitched voice is actually me singing too, just run through a bunch of weird processing.

Since I've moved to the city and can't play my drums or guitar live anymore, I've been thinking about making some sort of electronic based music. Been looking at which software would be best. Lots of people of suggested Ableton.

Yeah, from what I've read it's gotten to the point where the software doesn't really matter, it's just knowing how to use it well and you can make just about anything. I've used Ableton for a really long time so I know it pretty dang well, but other software is just as recommended for producing. If you're planning on playing live though, Ableton is a clear frontrunner at the moment.

I'm just looking for something that is fairly user friendly... I'm a little to lazy and busy to get too deep into a user manual.

If you can get the basics of Ableton it's pretty easy to figure stuff out. Almost everything has a lot of presets that you can use, which makes it really easy to learn how different instruments or effects work. That being said, the basics of any of these programs aren't super easy to grasp so you might want to watch some youtube tutorials or something. There's a lot of helpful ones out there about every aspect of each program.
