I don't think there's anything questionable about enforcing any kind of dress code at any performance people pay to attend. And how the fuck hard is it to have "formal wear or a costume"? Wear a kawaii tiger hat. Boom. You're in. Anyone upset about this is equivalent to those gun owners complaining about how commercial rocket launchers don't exist.
Both Pemberton and Squamish have had stupid camping prices. Pemberton was $75 in 2008 (I think), Squamish is around $90 or something. I don't know what it is about Canadian festivals. It isn't like land is scarce.
Encouraged? Fine. Hell, even offer some free shit like an MP3 download of the show or whatever if you dress up, but mandatory? Fuck that. They aren't the New York Philharmonic, and even then I'm not sure if there is a mandatory dress code.
Didn't they say formal dress OR costume? Who the fuck can't throw together something fun to wear to a show? Personally I probably will not go to their show, but if I were, I would be excited abut the fact that they're going to dissuade boring fucking dipshits from doing so.
