Border Crossing

Traveling from Kamloops(interior), BC and was just wondering which border crossing would be the best. I was thinking of going through the Osoyoos crossing. But I could also go down to the lower mainland and take the Peace Arch crossing. What would you guys recommend?

The peace arch route would be like an hour and a half longer... It's about 6 and half hours if you go through osoyoos, and 8 hours if you drive to Vancouver first... Google maps is your friend.

yeah I google mapped it, said there a 45 minute difference, but from my experience that isn't always accurate. It doesn't really account for whether or not its a 6 lane freeway, or two lane windy road. I guess I was more wondering if the border is slower one way or another?Or if there is cooler scenery one way or another? and also I have never crossed the border, going with 3 other people. Do they do a pretty hefty search or is it minimal?

pretty sure i'm going to cross south of Cranbrook. I've also never driven across the border.

I've never done the drive through Osoyoos before... I have driven to the gorge 4-5 times, but always from Vancouver. That drive is all I-5 6 lane madness until just before Seattle where you hook up to the I-90. There is nothing to see on the I-5 really but the 90 is nice I suppose. Last year we got stuck on Snoqualmie pass (Ithink it was that one) for about 3 hours pooper to pooper... it sucked.

As for going through the border, I've never had them tear apart the vehicle, but before my mid-twenties I was searched a few times crossing the border. My suggestions are don't bring anything retarded and make sure you have all of your documents ready for inspection. Try to stay calm and be direct with your answers. They are going to be seeing alot of fellow Sasquatch goers that day so don't hesitate to tell them where you are going. The most hassle I ever got was driving to Coachella '99. We were all 18 and they didn't like that we weren't carrying any American cash....

Coming from Calgary and last year we took the crossing south of cranbrook. It wasn't too bad, we showed up at a bad time and had to wait about an hour in line. Basically everyone else was on their way to Sasquatch so we got asked around 5 questions and were promptly sent on our way. I've done the border crossing thing many times, never been stopped, but would still not recommend bringing anything illegal. I buy all my liquor in the states, as it's cheaper anyways, no drugs, no fruit, etc.

The drive on the way (HWY 85 & 90) through Coeur D'Alene and Spokane were really nice for the most part. Not worth going all the way to the cranbrook crossing though from where you are.
