 Mass To Squatch
« Thread Started on Feb 3, 2012, 1:25pm »

so me and my buddies have decided to go and i think were going to fly to avoid the 2 day drive

anyone know what the cheapest airport to fly into might be? do you think it would be cheaper to fly to like Montana or somewhere further from the gorge and just rent a car? I'm searching for flights but if anyone has any ideas it would help

Southwest Airlines if at all possible. Saved me boat loads of money on my flight to Coachella. Seattle would probably be your best bet, but keep in mind that it's still a 2.5 hour drive to the Gorge from there.

Seattle's basically your only option. Don't get creative. Flying to Montana or Boise or some shit is just going to be more expensive and more of a pain in the ass

Doesn't Spokane have an international airport? We had a Seattle vs. Spokane race to the Gorge one year and Spokane won by half an hour or so.

Yeah but it's not a major airline. You'll still need a connection from most locations.

hell yea thanks guys, portland is the cheapest iv found but i think a 2.5 hour drive sounds better then a 5 hour drive after a long ass flight. how much time should i factor in for traffic? I'm trying to plan it so by the time we drive from the air port to the gorge the line is starting to build not get stuck at the end and be in it for like 6 hours

Plan to spend at least 9 months in traffic if you leave the airport anywhere between 1pm and 7pm. Washington State DOT is garbage.

I don't know about traffic, not being a native of Seattle, but I left the downtown area and took I-5 to I-90 in the morning rush and found it actually pretty quick. From Seatac, take I-405 to I-90 and I suspect it won't be that bad.

You might want to stop for groceries at the Safeway in North Bend. That Safeway is almost right on I-90 and easy to get in and out of. I hit it up last year and was very happy I did rather than picking up groceries in Ellensburg. I already had my booze bought, though, and though Safeway sells beer and wine, you need to hit a state-sanctioned liquor store to buy hard stuff in WA.

I can attest to the awesomeness of North Bend Safeway. I'd plan for about 5-6 hours from Seattle-The Gorge, with traffic. Hopefully less. Sometimes a little more.

5-6 HOURS? It takes us 6-7 from Vancouver... unless the I-90 is ridiculous, which it has been in the past.

Why not fly into Pasco? The Tri-Cities are less than a two hour drive to the Gorge.
