Thanks, mayne. I think that's why I loved that band so much, like (re)living the 80's. (I only lived for 2 years of the 80's, and my toddler memory don't remember much.) |

our fb page:listn.to/that-and-the-vatican we recorded demos over winter break and recently finished em up. we recorded the tracks using my analog gear (in full takes) and then dumped em into cubase just to mix and eq a little. i play bass and wrote the cuts with the vocalist/rhythm guitarist.
any and all feedback is greatly appreciated |

Oh my god I love this thread so fucking much. Everyone who posts about their shitty high school bands instead of their actual current bands will get some kind of prizes.
Pea, I have never laughed so hard while realizing such impassioned respect for another human being at the same time. A god damn mazing. |

| Ah I8, it's always nice to know we have you to keep our self-esteem in check. |

I keep forgetting to post in this thread. If anyone is interested in hearing some chunes from a band I was in when I was like 19 years old then here you go: http://www.myspace.com/longlostmelodies/music
*disclaimer* This was a really rough session in the studio. There was no mastering or additions of any kind. It's basically a garage band utilizing the studio for the first time with a bunch of beers. The timing is off and all that. The drums get off timing in the first two songs. I play guitar in the first two songs and drums in the third song. Enjoy everyone! I CAN'T WAIT FOR SASQUATCH!!! |

I'm not really in any bands per se. It's more like we just Dr. Garbanzoured out a name while we were jamming one night and that's as far as we got.
Rumblestrut (a reference to the mating rituals of hamsters I think) was the result of 2 or 3 lazy sunday afternoons, an acoustic guitar, and a friend who occasionally sings. We actually have a vid on youtube that has like 95,000 views somehow. It's a cover of Dig Up Her Bones by Misfits, which I had only heard for the first time about 20 minutes before we made the video. I was reading the chords from my laptop the whole time.

Bang Flag! - On a snowy January night in 2008 (i think) we got together at a friend's very well equipped home studio and just played for like 7 hours. We recorded a song called "I Press Play on Things" which somehow ended up being techno-pop or something. It's terrible really, and it was all done within about 30 min on a handful of takes. It was all for jokes, and whenever it pops up on random on my ipod I have a good nostalgic chuckle. There was also a meandering acoustic song called The Drifter. I'll try to dig them up and post them here for you guys.
Press The Red Button - again, just jamming with a bud who decided it was a good idea to buy a drum kit. I believe there is exactly 1 recording in existence from this venture, and I have no idea where it is. We do a mean instrumental version of Anthem for the Year 2000 by Silverchair though... |

While we're resurrecting this thread before I8 locks it forever:
muh band just mixed some songs we recorded a year ago, so if you will go listen to them and give comments/criticism (please no insults... unless you want to hurt my feelings, which I mean, freedom of speech and stuff I guess)
The 3 new'uns are Fathers/Hollywood, Toilet Wine, and Forget It |

New songs sound great Lumps, However I still fucking love that Fromage a trois song the most fucking cracks me up. Followed closely by "the ruins of detroit", that songs rules, has a really great melody.
I like "Forget it" the most of these new ones(followed closely by "toilet wine"). I actually bought one of those Zoom H4n recorders after you told me you recorded the drums on these with that, they sounds great. |

| We're no longer called Sonic Death Monkey. We're on the verge of becoming Kathleen Turner Overdrive, but just for tonight, we are Barry Jive and his Uptown Five. |
