Fuck! I just spent so long writing out a post, but i have no idea how to post videos! I tried the youtube button and the embed code, but nothing showed up! Help?... Please?
Posted by emptyfox on Jan 28, 2011, 2:23am
is it a youtube video?

It has to be hosted somewhere online to be linked here...

for you tube it's [youtube ]link[/ youtube] without the spaces...[ur l]link[/u rl] if it's somewhere else...

or you could just post the links without embedding...

Say for example, the URL looks like this:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wFB_vHVFM_8

Copy everything after the equals sign, in this case it would be this:

wFB_vHVFM_8

Paste that inside the youtube brackets so it looks like this:

this is the link i put between the [youtubes] to make it work...

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1xT6cdfP_cM

putting the full link in there works just fine.

so its the link, not the embed code... lets give this another go.

Ok, some things for multiple people...

First off, Sharks keep Moving. I'm sure some of you have heard of them because they contain Jake Snyder, Jay Clark, AND Morgan Henderson before any of these people were in big bands. Its like... I guess its like if Minus the Bear was a jazz combo. In a word, sublime.

Tera Melos is a "math rock" or "experimental rock/ pop/ jazz/ awesome" or whatever you want to call them. They are a band that has evolved greatly over the course of their 2 full lengths, two eps (one of covers), and one split. Every album is different, and every album is just as good as the next. Here's a couple from across the spectrum, including a cover of "hey sandy". That's right, the pete and pete theme song. In order of release...

The only song that never, ever, ever fails to put a smile on my face.

Math rock. I know everyone hates the term, but it does have its place.
I mean, experimental is a good description as well, but that's such a wide thing, and Math rock does kind of narrow it down.

Now someone mentioned Zach Hill. He and the main guy from the previous band have a side project called bygones. Its... well, its exactly what you'd expect from the two of them: Very chaotic, and yet beautiful when your mind can finally organize it.

Lots more where this came from, tell me if you guys like any of this stuff!

P.S. if you like sharks keep moving and you haven't heard the song "like a river" you owe it to yourself to take 13 minutes of your life, go on grooveshark, find it, sit down, shut up, close your eyes, and soak it in. I promise you you will thank me.

Ok.. so I haven't really contributed anything awesome to this board so far.. I've just been taking all of your music suggestions. I'm pretty small town, so I haven't really discovered that much music (although compared to my friends, I'm like some kind of music queen). But I'll share a little of what I know, and leave it up to you guys to decide! So here we go:

Meet Hollerado, they're from a really small town in Ontario, and most likely in the indie rock category. I first saw them opening for USS and their live show was crazy. The mics were a little off, but they had great energy and there was a lot of headbanging on my part and improv on their part. I bought their LP at the show, and fell in love soon after. I have seen them once since then in a tiny bar, and I ended up on stage with them singing along. If I had to suggest one song, it would be Americanarama, because it is an awesome song, and the video is very very well made. Apparently it cost less than 500 dollars to make and they did it in one take! Have a looksee!

I see tons of people wearing Hollerado sweatshirts around town, and they're all kinda scrumy looking older dudes. They must've dropped off a box of their merch at a salvation army or something.

That makes me sad. :( There wasn't any scrumy looking older dudes at the shows.. Except that one dude with his kid. That was weird. And there was a blind guy who kept pooping in to me.

Solid marketing plan. Homeless people in my experience cover a great deal of ground on a given day. Warmth for them, Free advertising for you.
