What station in the states picked up Degrassi? I think that's hilarious.

I don't understand the Drake hate. I do hear what you are hearing (lil' wayne-esqueness), but on the few songs I've heard off of this new album sounded way better than anything off his debut.

I think Drake is great. Loved his first album, and I'm really digging this new album. He is pretty terrible live though.

Yeah I had no idea Americans knew what Degrassi was

I think degrassi may air on Nickelodeon or something these days. I used to watch it on Noggin though.

It's easy for me to see the hate against drake because he gives people a lot of reasons to hate him. Hell, I'm embarrassed to tell people how much I've been listening to Take Care as much as I have. That said, Take Care is such a solid album with so many parts that work well. Drake's rapping is still lackluster and some of his lyrics are really questionable ("she said you're such a dog, I said you're such a bone") but the production is stellar and I really like what he's trying to do. I'm a huge supporter of 808's and Heartbreaks and this album is the best attempt to emulate that formula I've heard yet. Marvin's Room is top 10 songs of the year for me too

My neighbors had 235432523 channels back in the day before it became the norm to have 235432523 channels and I remember first catching onto that show on The N, or Noggin, or whatever it was while spending time at their house. Then Nickelodeon picked up the show and it now runs on their "Teen Nick" network.\

Derp. What cbats said.

It's really just a raw emotional thing, but I feel like he's an actor rapper. I mean, the dude was on a teenage soap opera. He's a child of privilege - for those of you who have been to Toronto, he grew up in Forest Hill and went to Forest Hill Collegiate Institute (via Wikipedia). But he sounds and acts like he's a real black southern rapper, like Lil Wayne, and he's just not.

I'm not saying you have to be a former drug-dealer to make hip-hop. And to be honest, the production on some of his songs is cool. I also think it's mostly recycled, boring bullshit beats, but sometimes that can sound cool. But the second you step in front of the microphone and start rapping about your problems, you invite the spotlight. He doesn't rap about not being given as many lines as he wanted in Degrassi, and he doesn't rap about being cut from his college prep high school's basketball team, he wants you to think he's got problems, and he just doesn't. Fuck your problems, Drake. If he had decided that music was his passion and became a great producer, maybe I'd think he was cool. But frankly he's just another actor-turned-artist like, I don't know, fucking Bruce Willis and Scarlett Johannson and Hugh Laurie and Jennifer Lopez and every other fucking actor who's made horrible music.

Plus, his name is Aubrey.

I dig that Hugh Laurie record

Actually I haven't even listened to it

not to detract from the very valid point you just made. Just Dr. Garbanzoured I'd throw that into the mix.

I feel like he mostly raps about vulnerability in love/relationships and being famous...
You'll never be able to live down the name Aubrey but I don't really think that he raps about anything fraudulent. It's not like he says he sold crack rocks with the Hell's Angels.

I'm not saying he's lying flat out, I'm just saying he's putting on an act

Do you like Childish Gambino drew? just wondering.

I guess the new Black Keys is pretty good after all. I'm definitely enjoying it more than any of their other albums.
