DJ's are the new rock stars, yo.

Huh, that Opeth/Mastodon show is at the Paramount. That place seems way too classy for a metal show.
Posted by Pea on Jan 31, 2012, 6:33pm
Slayer has played there, sooo nah.

I'm really surprised that Jeff Mangum hasn't sold out any of his nights in Portland already.

Wut?

For Atlanta, I wasn't even able to get tickets online when I went right when they went on sale. I was just lucky enough that going through ticketmaster's automated telephone system actually worked.

Is he doing the paperless ticketing thing in Atlanta as well?

That's part of it, and part of is that he's playing a venue probably twice the size he should if he wants to sell out two nights without the 'benefit' of scalpers cleaning out the tickets.

He is indeed.

And yeah, though the place he's playing definitely isn't small, it's definitely way smaller than I thought he would play out. I'm not sure. The only 2 other things I've seen at the venue were SM & the Jicks and Tim and Eric.

You know you're (and I'm) addicted to the Coachella board when you bring that gem up. Jesus, that thread is god fucking awful.

Huh? I can promise you I didn't take that from the Coachella board.
Posted by emptyfox on Jan 31, 2012, 7:34pm
Well meow I just look like a jerk that reads the Coachella board too much. I know it initially came from a Rolling Stone article.
Posted by Pea on Jan 31, 2012, 7:36pm
Hah. I think everyone has been thinking that lately. It's pretty much true. DJ's are living the way bands like Poison and Motley Crue did when they were at their biggest.

I can't wait until Skrillex is playing giant arenas.
