In my opinion, Explosions In The Sky are beyond extraordinary live. I have traveled great distances to see them perform, and have even cried on occasion during their sets (I realise that this detail may very well be exploited to mock me, but look at my AV).

The National are well worth whatever they damn well want to charge to be seen live (again, imo); and speaking of different prices in different markets: EITS played at Big Sur for 50$ or over 50$ in the last month. It is Big Sur though. Last time Radiohead played in the U.S., they auctioned off their tickets, as many of you may well know, as I believe it was 500$ per ticket with each attendee having to buy two tickets to be able to get tickets. 1000$ USD.

In a final note, on the topic of The Antlers that I was being given guidance on, after one listen to each of their records, I have decided to listen to them once again, because I must have missed something the times I have seen them perform.

Coming from a guy who does not smoke weed, I believe all you stoners are way to high to realize that Explosions in the Sky is average live.

And before you say, "You just don't get it, man (puff, puff)" I do. I thought GYBE was one of the top ten shows I've ever seen, so it's not the style I dislike.

THIS IS THE WORST THING I'VE EVER READ. A TERRIBLE DAY IN SASQUATCH BOARD HISTORY.

So is this the first time you've ever listened to recorded material?

First time I saw Explosions, I thought, "wow, that was great, I can't wait to see them again. Such great energy." It was a 35 minute set at a festival, and they cut their soft jams out almost entirely. Each time I've seen them since, I've been bored. I traveled great lengths to see them at MusicFestNW this past weekend, (it was an 11 minute walk from my place) and I was still bored. There's the guy who bobs his head when he jams, and the guy with the extra long guitar strap that wanders around the stage staring at the crowd, they play 10-20 minutes of Peter Cetera type soft rock, then hit the crowd with one minute of power. SSDD. I saw the Grails a couple hours later, who have a similar style, and their show was much more entertaining.

Or is the TERRIBLE-ness that I don't smoke weed?

TV on the Radio / BrokeN Social Scene TONIGHT!

Yeah I suppose I can see how some parts of their set can be considered "boring" but along the same lines, if it was nothing but 90 minutes of their heavy shit then it would be just as boring imo.

What I enjoy about them is the nearly non-stop nature of their show, how well placed the heavier parts are, and their energy. This was their first time ever playing Boise so they were noticeably tickled that they were able to sell out the show and the crowd was into it. I most likely wont pay more than $30 to see them do a show by themselves or with one opener again but if they find their way back to Squatch or another festival I definitely wont miss them unless there is a bad conflict.
