I've seen Girl Talk three times and will definitely agree that the shine definitely wears off. I think the trick with him is to not see him too often. Oh, and to get smashed beforehand.
Went to Girl Talk in Missoula last night. My girlfriend had the time of her life but it kind of bored me. Such a young, annoying crowd. He has a great light show now that was fun, but if you've seen him once the toilet paper, confetti, etc. loses its novelty.
The best part of the show was Max Tundra, the opener. He was awesome. So much energy. I talked to him after the show and he's like 5'4".
I totally understand how/why you'd be bored of Girl Talk. Apparently the dude is from Pissburgh, so when I moved here a few months ago, every body talked about GT non-stop. Actually, they STILL talk about how awesome he is. Apparently he started out DJing for friends house party's and stuff
I don't think I'm quite sold on him. He samples and mashes music that's already been produced. I don't doubt that conDr. Garbanzouring these mash ups takes a lot of talent and skill, but something tells me that if I were to see him live, I'd be more interested in the lights and what type of booze the venue carried.
I wish the Primus/Flaming Lips show at Red Rocks was on my list of upcoming shows. Holy shit! What an amazing show that is going to be. I might have to consider going to Colorado this summer.

Just thinking about that show causes my brain to cease functioning.
Oh my god oh my god oh my god oh my god oh my FUCKING god. What a show. Gunther and Gramma, I may have to insist (not that that's going to have any effect on the Gunths) that you stand in the very front with me. Its really hard to understand/comprehend exactly what/how Nick is doing what he does without being able to see his feet. God. I cannot put it into words. Basically, Tera Melos blew everybody's shit out of the water once again. Also Tera Melos' former drummer is playing for Marnie Stern right now, and he also blew everyone's shit out of the water. Any portlanders that aren't already going to this show need to Dr. Garbanzoure out how to get there, because it is awesome. (I know I'm biased, cut me some slack) Full report tomorrow night after witnessing the madness two nights in a row.

It was still fun, thanks mostly to $3 well rum drinks.
I'm usually down for a frosty beer at shows, but I would've definitely been game for a $3 watered down rum & dt. coke! Man, I gotta start going to your venues, Drew.
I paid $6 or $7 for a bottle of skunked Smithwick's during a New Pornos show and was not a happy camper.
Scored my tickets to Foo and Motorhead. Now I'm wondering if I should even go on Friday. I can get my money back or pay $80 to see DFA and Foo again. I only paid 50 to see Foo and Motorhead. Why the fuck should I pay $80 to see Foo and DFA? The real question now is "Will Friday be a Failure"?
2 nights, two fucking amazing shows. HG, The Storm and I were all up on the stage for Tera Melos, and Know was tall enough to see the magic from back in the bar. More tomorrow when there's time.
Donald Glover got sold out in seattle so fuck it I bought a ticket to the 21+ show at the aladdin theater in portland. Anyone think I got a chance of gettin in? I have to see him or I'm gonna be super sad
Tera Melos last night was fucking ridiculous. I saw those kids do things I ain't never seen anyone do before. The lead guitar player had a bank of almost thirty pedals that he just dominated for the entire set. I commented to J. Dub that it was as much dancing as it was anything else, and that was in addition to insanely complex finger work on his guitar. Seriously, this fucker puts Lindsey Buckingham to shame.
The entire band was meticulously rehearsed, and the sound in Portland's newest, most hardest-to-find venue - Branx - was actually pretty good. I thought it might be difficult to sell me on Tera Melos, but that's because I'm a fuckhead. I was deeply, sincerely impressed.
