Andrew Jackson Jihad is coming in a couple of days, and I just noticed it. They're playing at a venue I've never heard of but oh well it's 8 bucks so that's pretty cool.
Michael Showalter's doin' a tour in March supportin' his new book:
March 8, Seattle: Bookstore appearance at University Bookstore during the day, show that night at The Triple Door. March 9, Portland: Bookstore appearance at Powell's during the day, show that night at Mission Theatre
Check 'dat shit out (I'm seein' him in Chapel Hill muhself), just don't ask him to do Doug (character from the State for those who don't know) or he'll get pissed off at you.
CAKE is doing 2 sets at the Roseland in February fuck yeah
Hell yes. I will be there. They were great Friday, and I'll admit, I knew very little of their material. Cake is one of those bands I have yet to commit hours of listening to, but they are awesome live.
Also add to my upcoming shows:
Sebadoh/Quasi Murder By Death/The Builder & The Butchers (I fucking love the Builders).

WAIT Murder by Death is coming? What venue?
Wonder Ballroom, the day after Valentine's Day. Tickets go on sale Saturday.
Where are you getting the info that they're coming? I don't see anything on their website or Wonder Ballroom's site either.
I think Gunther receives some kind of dispatch that keeps him informed of upcoming shows. There's a Jonathan Coulton show happening at the Aladdin in February (awesome) that showed up on Know's blog before it was even on JoCo's. I'll be honest at first I thought he was just making shit up.
My friends and I always had a competition to see who could be the first to start an email chain about a freshly announced show we might want to see. I got to the point where I was kicking all of their tails, so I decided to start putting what I know on a blog. I see stuff, I hear stuff (I smell stuff, I taste stuff), so I have a lot of different sources. The reason I named my blog the Cognizance, is because it really is about awareness. It's my way of giving back to the community.
I get a fair amount of positive feedback, which makes it all worth it. People voice their approval many different ways, including compliments, thank yous, or comments such as, "I think he's full of shit, but this time, he turned out to be right." They all touch my heart, and voice the same overall message, "Keep it up buddy, you're super rad."
I'll be honest, I STILL think Know makes a bunch of shit up for his blog
You are correct, I do make shit up. Did you ever read the Hold Steady review I wrote earlier this summer? That was 100% made up (except the setlist).
However, the upcoming shows part of the blog has to be accurate to remain credible, so I don't make shit up there. Otherwise, I'd be saying things like, "Snowglobe opening for the Residents at the Wonder Ballroom, April 16th, 2011." Then I would spend the better part of the next hour laughing out loud while you spend the better part of the next two days searching for a second source.
