Then why are you even bothering spending your money and time on seeing them? |

| Because I used to listen to them in high school a bunch and never got around to seeing them. I had extra money so I thought why not.
It was a pretty boring show. Not worth it. |

The Smashing Pumpkins had a sudden show announcement for Missoula this week. They announced the show Monday, and played tonight, Sunday. Empty mentioned in the Coachella thread they cancelled the Vancouver show from lack of ticket sales. I guess they decided to play in Missoula instead. They played the Wilma, which is about 1000 capacity. It sold out pretty fast the day tickets went on sale. I always wanted to check them out so I went for it. I don’t regret it. They started out by playing their new album which sounded pretty good live. Then they played some of their old songs, which I have to say was pretty fucking mind blowing. It probably wouldn't have been as good in a larger venue, but it was pretty cool in a theater.

One of the concert tracking websites I subscribe to sent me an email a couple weeks ago regarding Sufjan Stevens playing in Seattle in December. I was almost to the point of believing that I hallucinated the whole thing, but it is real and sounds weird. As you all know I am obligated to the weird, so I will probably be attending.

| And the Portland show is on a Saturday, so, you know... |

| We've already discussed it; we're going. Wouldn't miss Sufjan for the world. Plus he's playing at the Aladdin. |

SUFJAN? AT THE ALADDIN? OH SHIT.
Actually, why is he playing a smaller venue this time around? |

| It's a Christmas tour. Probably a much smaller production than the Adz tour, and just generally not as big a draw. I've noticed that his projects that aren't directly tied to proper albums don't generally generate as much interest. |

I got a notification a couple weeks ago too and forgot to look into it some more. I was thinking of doing the Seattle date (wasn't aware of a Portland date). Thanks for reminding me Burrito! |

Totally go see Sufjan. I think he is an angel. Like, for real. |

| Let's all do Sufjan in Portland, Jesus style. |

| Dudes... fucking Grizzly Bear. Those are some seriously fucking talented musicians. The bassist/flutist/horn section guy looks like he has the largest ego ever, but he pulls it off because he actually is the shit, instead of just thinking he is the shit. |

| And he sings like James from Twin Peaks. Seriously fucking amazing show. |

Juuust teasing. I've been waiting YEARS to see a weird Sufjan show, I'm so down. |
