I don't mind the EEC most of the time. I'm usually up close, but the times I have been at the back I couldn't hear anything. I was going to do both shows, but my sister wants to come and she doesn't want to drive to Calgary.
June 24th @ Neumos: RUSSIAN CIRCLES with And So I Watch You From Afar
Holy shit. This show is going to be insane. I recommend it to ALL
I've seen Russian Circles opening for Red Sparowes (whom I love dearly) a few times and thought "that was pretty good, but they're no Red Sparowes" each time. That was like 3 years ago, though. I may have to give them a shot as a headliner.
I forget, did you end up getting a ticket to Black Dice @ the Sunset?

I did get tix for Black Dice. I am super excited for that show. Also, I saw Russian Circles a while back (4 yrs or so) when they opened for Portugal the Man and These Arms Are Snakes. That time I didn't know who they were and walked away thinking they were pretty good.
This last November we saw them headline and they just destroyed the place. Absolute awesomeness. The openers for this upcoming show are really good as well.
I am going to be freaking the fuck out when I meet you at Black Dice, dude. This show is my equivalent of Pea's Sigur Ros. I cannot believe we are almost a week away from this. It's still not real to me. Mr. Impossible has been creeping his way under my skin and is already approaching Load Blown status. If you haven't gotten around to checking out Load Blown, that's a good status to be.
Damn, I have to get on it and pick that up. I have so many records I keep telling myself that I need to buy (St. Vincent for starters) and then in the moment I get something completely different. I go blank in record stores sometimes.
I am going to email my work email now so I remember tomorrow

Do you do vinyl or CD? I would almost never advise anyone to buy a CD, but Load Blown on vinyl is only half of the album. The CD is the 5 tracks from the vinyl, coupled with 5 other tracks previously released as singles. The vinyl singles aren't available anymore, and actually contain the best songs they've ever recorded IMO.
Considering catching Washed Out after the Sounders match tonight. That could make for some chill vibes after a rowdy evening. Hmmm
What did you think? I was a little disappointed in the Portland show. Sound is usually pretty good at Doug Fir, but the vocals were muddled at best and inaudible at worst. The band itself seemed a little disjointed. I was hoping they'd continue to mature since last Sasquatch (although it might be a different group now). Still had fun though.
