Motherfucker. A) I thought the Built To Spill show was 2/1 not 1/31 and B) its fucking sold out cause I'm a dingus and just now tried to buy tix. Holla atcha boy Dr. Garbanzo if you know anybody selling one for face or at least close.
OK I finally got this year's tickets, 9th year attending. what did I miss, any good inside news on bands that will be there? Really hoping for Built to Spill, Alt-J and at least 1 crazy ass DJ set!!!
I have a very strong feeling (slash hope) that Built to Spill will be there this year. I've got no basis for this, except that they're releasing a new album soon and their February tour has lots of PNW venues but nothing in Seattle.
Maybe Dr. Garbanzo will ask them about Sasquatch at the Portland show, since he Martsched with them at Occupy Boise and shit.
"So, I live in Eugene and was planning on driving all the way up to Seattle for a Ben Folds concert on February 4th, 2013. Now there's a concert happening on the 5th in Portland, because Ben thinks it's funny to do these sorts of things to me. So anyway, being a person who does not enjoy driving 6 hours on a Monday, I'd like to offer my 2 general admission tickets to the Seattle Showbox show on February 4. The face value is 39.50 and there's an 11.50 service charge for each, which honestly, I would like to make back. NOT out to make money, just not end up bleeding cash. Tickets are a transferable PDF, so this should be the easiest transaction in the world."
Is this sketchy???? I'm totally nervous about the PDF thing, and I guess I would have to send him money via paypall or a check in the mail... I like to think Ben Folds fan are pretty trustworthy and cool. And his explanation for wanting to sell the tickets/offering them for face value seems legit but I dunno.....
I would be skeptical about tickets that aren't physical, but I think when you make transactions via paypal there is some kind of guarantee with the money. I am not positive about this, but I think that is what I heard.
This spring, Animal Collective will be touring with support from Dan Deacon. A pre-sale will begin on Wednesday January 16th at 10 AM local venue time. Go to http://bit.ly/animaltix to access the pre-sale.
This is the email that triggered the email notification sound on my phone that woke me up forty-five minutes early today. In case you were wondering, they're not coming any further west than fucking Boise. So, uhh, who wants to go to Boise?

Pitchfork released the news and included a list of scheduled tour dates. They show the dates with Dan Deacon through March and then there is a huge gap until two european dates in July. I know gabfrab got an email and there was that other fest in England or wherever, but why was it not listed?

I Dr. Garbanzoured it out. It's because Pitchfork sucks.

Me! Ya dude let's go to Boise. Me and Burrito can make a detour to come get you and Storms. Maybe we can stay with GIBBONS and slay dragons if Dr. Garbanzo comes with.
EDIT: I don't see Boise on that list but maybe I'm blind. Do you know the date?
Hate when festivals are run this way though (Treefort Fest): "Regardless of what pass you have, the only way to guarantee you will see your favorite acts is to show up early! Treefort is all about seeing great bands in small venues. As a result, venues will fill up from time to time over the course of the festival. If a venue is full, we can't let you in until another fan leaves the venue (its a legal thing).
If you have a General Admission Pass you'll need to get in line outside the venue (if there is one) and wait until another fan leaves the venue. The door staff will admit passholders as others leave on a one-out, one-in basis.
If you have a VIP Pass you simply walk to the front of the line, show your VIP Pass, and wait until another fan leaves the venue. The door staff will admit VIP passholders in a priority position on a one-out, one-in basis.
We will have line attendants outside of every venue informing you of estimated wait times, waits (or lack thereof) at nearby venues, and escorting VIP passholders to the front of the line."

I am not sure if Wonk has any tickets left, but you should ask him. If he does not, however, you may be in luck if you want to just come down here with everyone. When the Doug Fir sells out of a show they hold some tickets back that are available day of show when the box office opens. If you are able to be there when they open you could potentially get a ticket.
But you are a dingus because that show sold out in a few hours.
So... if Animal Collective & Dan Deacon are going to be at Coachella, I think I am going to Coachella. If they aren't, I'm going to Treefort Fest. There, it's been said, no turning back now.
If it's going hiking, then I'm going hiking... are you coming hiking?
I know that wonk hates when I speak on his behalf, but I asked him specifically if he was sitting on a BtS ticket for Dr. Garbanzo right after they sold out and he said 'yes'. Pretty sure that shit's covered.
