Just saw Deakin, Best Coast, Sleepy Sun, Akron/Family, screening of Oddsac, The Rosebuds, Broken Social Scene, Panda Bear, The Golden Boys, Harlem, Fucked Up, Love Language, No Age, Public Enemy, Bear in Heaven, Dungen, Tortoise, and Woods last weekend if that counts for anything. I don't know if this is a contest, but I'd think if it was, I did pretty well.
i was really hoping to hear "about today" since they played it in vancouver but i was overjoyed to hear "daughters..." at least
Anything pre-Alligator live is wanted.
Did you happen to catch the joke about the cider up near the front middle of the crowd? I missed how that started, although I think it had something to do with Matt's niece. He mentioned the cider at least threes times, but I didn't get the reference. I'm guessing you were much closer to the stage than I, since I was near the back.
They brought it up again at the Portland show. One of the twins joked that Matt was wanted in Washington for providing alcohol to children.
Ok, that makes sense for the cider. And I'm sure the crowd was decent where you were at, crammed in the middle in the front (I'm guessing), but me being a head taller than average, I notice bouncing noggins, and hands raised, and those were few and far between.
So yes, I was at both. I found a ticket to the Seattle show for next to nothing, and have some friends up there I haven't seen in forever, so I Dr. Garbanzoured why not. I'd never been to Marymoor Park.
Yeah, cool venue, it's similar to Edgefield here in Portland. They are the same capacity, but Edgefield is gently sloped upwards 40 yards from the stage, so those not standing can sit further back and still see the show, rather than sit on the edges at Marymoor. Plus Edgefield is on an amazing piece of property with old buildings, hotels, bars, breweries, whineries, golf courses, etc. If you get a chance to see a show there next summer, I would highly recommend it.
You're in Pittsburgh too? I couldn't make it to that one because of prior commitments/theaters suck, and I missed out on National tickets because they're now sold out. Walkmen/Japandroids at Mr. Small's will be great, though, I'm sure, and I'm throwing around seeing a couple others...
pittsburgh, indeed.
the next show i have on the agenda here is Yeasayer at Mr. Smalls
I'm not a big enough Yeasayer fan to make it worth the trip. If I could just pay ~$5, see Washed Out do Feel It All Around, and then leave, that'd be different.
Just saw Tallest Man last Wednesday and Japandroids at Bumbershoot. I've got a couple of BSS dates coming up as well as Arcade Fire, Japandroids, and Local Natives next weekend. I am super fucking excited! Sasquatch really opened me up to a lot of awesome bands. I can't wait till the next one.
